Yeah, the 'all black' (orange?) looks nice, but like you the 'Torched' version is very appealing to me...

 

As the 'pros' have taken to the latest Spider line really well, I'm not expecting a ton of changes to the line apart from more 'regular' (ie: Non-'My Spider') offerrings on finishes, other stock options perhaps.

 

Could be wrong, as we know Taylormade very well!

46° toe hang on the Proto short slant vs 30° on the TourX. Might have to give the L-neck a try.

The toe hang is the reason I returned mine. I’ve used an original Red Spider Tour for years and the proto swung so differently

I’m curious as how the feel is for this. I’ve used the Black Spider Tour for the last 5-6 years because it just rolls so well off the face and feels automatic from 3-4 feet. Though, from a pure stroke perspective, I’ve always putted best with a Del Mar style type of putter  and they have a ton of toe hang.

Firmer for sure. I have the red spider tour which is the softest insert I believe. The black one you use is a little firmer that mine and this new milled one is the firmest of the group.

 

I also found that the sweet spot felt smaller. With my spider red, it often feels pure even if the hit isn’t perfect. With the milled face you need to hit it better to produce the “pure” feedback. I assume that has to do with the COG being further forward and the putter not being quite as forgiving.

Just orange lol. I love the Proto. Almost feel the black out with the alignment aid blacked out as well may be a step back for myself. Just wanted a backup to the STD finish.

Considering how hard it is to get TSS weighting options my first instinct was 'good luck', but maybe if you send and email (follow-up with a call?) maybe someone will find a way to make you happy. TM is generally very good at helping when they can...

Do you reckon many folks will customise (eg via MyTP) to change that topline/ aiming line to orange?

Yes orange and black is my fave combo, I even have orange/black Golf Pride on my irons.

 

But not everyone loves it 🙂 Silver sole plate would of been a better move IMO.

Is the Spider X no longer offered jn a single bend? Or is what they’re now calling “double bend” the same thing? My 2019 Spider X, I believe, had a single bend.

Does anybody know why there is no custom option on those? Might be fine with limited grip choices, but not fine in buying a 500$ putter in 35 inch and then superglue an extension in it to get it to 36. And do you guys know if it’s available through tm reps in the US or online only? In europe it’s online only 😒

Got the answer for Europe now, only available in 34 and 35 inch. Absolutely no customization possible, take it or leave it. TM is not really making this tasty.

What grip is everyone using on theirs?
 

I tried a SS tour 2.0 and dislike the grip size and light weight too actually. I’m used to a blade putter with matador grip. I’m thinking the best solution will be the Lampkin deep etch or golf pride pro only cord green star like Scotty has on his.

I hear you, this one is a bit subjective as I personally am on the fence re: torched…

 

Regardless, surprised they haven’t made it available, TM is generally quite opportunistic LOL.

 

Perhaps they’re a bit pissed as Rors (not Scottie) have not jumped to Qi35 by this point and they don’t quite know how to handle this (another thread I suppose!)
