Got the email as well. Really strange that it’s a double bend, considering the picture it shows is the plumber neck….

I’m curious about purchasing one. I feel like the drop down is a foul up. The whole point of the Proto was for the CH neck and milled face.

They were in stock last night. Listed as double bend, not sure if that was a glitch or not. I was able to order.

No foul up boys! They've updated the page to all but confirm a #3 slant neck IS coming, with updated specs, and our first official look at it! It'll bring the toe hang to 46*. The OG tour X with the slant neck was 30*, so the Proto's weighting scheme is really bringing it further into blade-like territory. After finally getting mine dialed with a better shaft and some lighter TSS weights, I am IN LOVE with my L-Neck proto, but I'll definitely be picking one of them up.

Just stresses the importance of making sure everything is good to go with the web team and merchandising prior to going live. I learned this all too well when working for Golfsmith at the HQ. I was a part of the merchandising crew and we HAD to be sure to get stuff right before launching new information on sites. 

 

I am either thinking of grabbing a Proto L neck or just doing the My Spider Tour X in the L neck. The only issue is that right now my putting is on track.

I'm just curious how these feel compared to a Pure Roll insert off-the-rack version. I went with the standard Ai-One WH insert because the titanium insert was too firm.

Oh for sure. I'm in marketing and work hand in hand with our UX to make sure that when my emails go out, that the link is up to snuff. This is far from the first time I've caught TM's web team with their pants down haha.

 

But hey, I might being willing to sell my current proto for under retail if I end up loving the slant neck. My wife would probably kill me if I just added another $500 putter to the collection without freeing up a spot lol.

So I ordered 2 that were listed with the double bend neck. I email TM and they said that was an error and it was the L neck. Just thought I’d update anyone that was in the same boat.

No idea when it releases. They come with TSS 11 (10.5g) weights stock. TM has told me back in November last year that the only next weight up is the TSS 13 (13g), and a pair of those will get your head weight up to 360g total. Since they're tungsten, you're looking at $25-30 per weight. TM still doesn't sell the original OEM ones to the general public, but I do have 3 of the OEM ones in silver. If you do get a slant neck and you want to try them out, reach out and we can figure something out to get a pair over to you..

Damn, that will be a pass if I can only get to 360. I figured it was 355 with 2-4g weights. I saw Billy bob’s has em up to 14g, but was looking to get it to at least 375. My Toulon is 385.

Looks like you can get knockoff weights that are 16g, and then the milled-out rear end behind the weights has a lot of room for gobs of lead tape, so there's that option. With all of that said, adding at least 20g to the butt end of the putter is going to negate the forward CG scheme that TM built into the putter.

I just can’t do it having to add so much weight, fooling myself to think it would replace my Portland. After new grip and weights could almost replace my 2 TSi fairways for TSR

I’ve given up on the spider!  After seeing numerous photos of spider paint chips.  That was a major turnoff.  To spend that kind of money and have it chip wasn’t worth it.  I went the Odyssey route.

I’ve seen Odyssey putters with paint chips too.

Mostly older models have the paint chipping. Newer ones are hydroblast or gunmetal finishes, not paint.

I wish TM would release a full run of the milled Spider X Prototype with different hosel shapes etc.  Such a great putter.
