Just picked up the LAB Mezz max CB and couldn’t believe how well I’ve putted with it. I was worried I’d struggle with the distance control to start but that was a strength right away. Every putt started on my intended line. Now if I only could read a putt!

What makes the LAB counterbalanced? heavier head? Longer Shaft?  Weight at grip?  Im wondering what would need to change to make a DF3 38" CB into a standard DF3 putter with a standard length grip...

Counterbalanced putters are standard putters with an extended grip (traditionally 3” longer) and CAN have weight added at the butt of the grip (not all do).  Lie angle and head weight can stay the same.

 

for example, I was fitted for a 35” putter at a 69* lie.  For a counterbalanced, I would order a 38”, 69* lie.  I would still grip the putter at the same position as in would with the 35” putter, so it will look like I’m choking up on the 38” counterbalanced.

While this is traditionally correct. This is not correct for LAB putters. The LAB CB putters are physically different than their standard counterparts. Yes the putter is longer but it also does not have a Press grip. As a result. LAB CB putters do not have the forward press built into the shaft. They are built with less forward lean and use a standard SuperStroke or Garden grip. So you technically cannot convert the CB putter into a standard. They are physically different.

 

Now that is the technical but could you cut it and putt with it? Sure.

I should have thought about these considerations closer - totally forgot about the forward press and weight needing to be adjusted.  Good catches!!

Anyone know if the “standard” head weight for the counterbalanced putters are already naturally heavier?

 

Debating on going between standard, or heavy for my counter balance order.

I think the standard head weight on the CB is heavier, I rolled one today at the PGA SS and it felt as heavy as my non CB DF3 with the heavier head option
