Cool, any feedback on the shaft and setup would be highly appreciated. What specs did you order?

I actually didn't order it. I  ran across it on Ebay. It was from one of my saved sellers. It was a 12* with a regular shaft. I  am a low ball hitter, so the 12* may give me some room to adjust. Plus, and this is a biggie, the price was just to good to pass up. I mean really good. They had three for sale ( maybe demo stock? ), and they sold within five minutes.

I have a 12 degree on order.  Plan is to play it at 10 degrees as hopefully the ultimate fairway finder.  The plan is for this to replace the BRNR and have a two driver setup.

I've watched a few tour players testin the Max.  From what I've seen there is no obvious draw bias - just very stable.  Most players I've watched have found the ST-G easier to turn over than the Max.   Obviously player dependent - but for better players, I've not seen draw bias.

Old thread here but to address people’s concern about it being draw biased, the ST-X model (advertised as their most draw biased) has been in the bags of tour staffers with success; idk if Keith Mitchell is still using the X rn, but ik he switched to the X for a bit, and I think another staffer won with the X if my memory serves (a Mizuno tour rep explained this in a video since people were wondering why staffers would be using the X model over the Z). I’m pretty sure Mizuno’s face angles are generally more open/neutral than most other OEM’s. The X just has the weight a bit (like only fractionally, if i’m not mistaken) more towards the heel, but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically gonna cause hooks or is only for high-handicappers. So the X isn’t quite as draw-biased as it’s advertised to be - at least that’s what the tour rep seemed to convey

And, on a somewhat unrelated note, people would be surprised to see how many people on Tour actually loft up their drivers/woods and closing the face angle slightly - it’s totally player and mechanics dependent, it has nothing to do with skill; yet people often hold the belief that only high-handicappers should loft up their woods

Took my new Max with the Kai Li 50s out this weekend. The head is fantastic: great feel, forgiving and looks great. Problem is the shaft is too long and light. Tried putting in the Kai Li 60s from the Z that plays at 45 put swingweight was non existent.  I wish they made it at 45 like the Z and X. Probably going to use my 90 day return deal and get the Ping 10k only because I can use the Tour Chrome shaft that plays at 45.25 and D4.

Why not just purchase a heavier back weight screw from ebay? They are available.

Getting real tempted to try this head. May just have to be patient and wait on a used one to hit the BST. Mizuno drivers just don't hold their value at all unfortunately. Just seems to be nothing but positive reviews on this driver though.

Got fitted into one earlier in the month and just played my first round this weekend. Here are my specs:

Loft: 9.5 (play @ 9.5)

Shaft: Hazardous RDX Green Smoke 75g 6.5

Length: 45”

Came into this driver from a Sim2 8* so it has loads more forgiveness compared to the Sim2. Tried some longer, lighter but the heavier/shorter was money.  Centre hits have a muted crack which I really liked.

Normally right in the 105-110mph club head speed. Was able to hit this thing dead straight to slight draw with the center and heel. The heel strikes were low fades, no duck hooks.

I did have one banana peel slice but that was all me.

For the price, the performance is on par with the TSR2 in my opinion. I was dead even between the two during my fitting and went St Max because I’d never heard of it before the fitting. Doesn’t have the flashy marketing but would recommend it.

Excited to see how this thing does during the season.

Good stuff. I don’t not have the Max, but first full round with the ST-Z 230 and I was seriously surprised by this head. I only missed 1 fairway! Wow! It’s so forgiving and still plenty long. Never owned a Mizzy driver.

Love the ST-Z 3 wood also.

The ST-Z 230 has a composite feel for me. Feels like the composite bats from HS baseball, and I much prefer that feel to the tinny Ping of a Ping driver. Sounds like the MAX is pretty similar.

I just snuck into my local shop to check these out.  I didn't have time to hit them. But just wanted to share my quick observations.  The St max driver didn't really stand out as having a huge foot print like I've heard. It is certainly bigger when sitting next to the stz 230 but not huge.  I would say the driver and fairways sit a hair closed compared to the stz 230s sit square to a hair open to my eye.  I found the St max hybrid not to look big at all until I laid down a stz hybrid beside it. I prefer a compact look but as is the St max is a playable size to me. That being said the max hybrid sits a full degree closed to me. My plan may be to play the 4 22 degree opened up. Will need to hit it first. But all together the line up looks great. I'm looking forward to trying them out.  Off topic got my first look at the 24 irons.  Look fantastic. I'm thinking the 245s bent weak will be in my bag this year.   Still wanting to hear feedback from on the course with the St max line.

After a few months using my Max 9.5 from above I can say the following:

- Picked up 13 yards on average over my Sim2 8*
- Went from losing 0.15 strokes to picking up 0.10 stokes per round.
- 50% on the fairway and only 20% on the right.
- Been able to develop a nice baby draw.

Forgiveness is where this club shines. Toe misses are still fairly straight, little bleed to the right.  Heel misses are straight bullets that don’t tend to lose distance. If you can keep the face straight, should be pretty good.

The sound is different, almost sounds like the Mizuno bat I had growing up. But a really like that sound.

Checked on these and saw they were now they are at $299 so I bought another.  In my opinion and based off my personal data, the Max hits farther and is more repeatable than any driver I put into play.

The Mizuno series and am Callaway are on my list for the fitting bay in 2 weeks for sure. Their price drop alone makes them a no brainer to at least try. I think it’s Ego but I would have a hard time going with a max head unless the results are like yours.
