We started watching Sugar on Apple TV. It's a bit of a strange one, but not bad. It took a really weird, and kind of stupid, twist in the episode we watched yesterday, but not bad enough to quit watching it.

Different tastes. We enjoyed that a lot and thought Colin Farrell was really good

i 2nd any post for "Narcos" on NF. Finished S1, liked it a lot, thought they may have over dramatized Escobar's "humanity" a bit but much going on, story wise.

Ya, Narcos Mexico is just as good. It shows how the whole business evolved and Mexico became a logical partner and then competitor for Columbia. And how one guys vision turned a bunch of independent disorganized gangs into a true cartel/mafia structure in Mexico

And the Chapo on NF is really good too!

So you’ve got a ton of binging in front of you 🍻

Just finished s3 of Squid Game and it was a 6/10 from me.

Positives

  • I thought the first 2 Eps were great.
  • Enjoyed the games this season.
  • Realistic ending.
  • Choi Woo-seok (Gi-Hun's friend) was the best character by a mile and he was the one who figured out Captain Park was shady.

Negatives

  • The detective storyline sucked.  He didn't do anything the last 2 seasons and was shown to be completely clueless.
  • Absolutely wasted Lee Byung-Hun's character (the frontman) this season. He was the best character in s2 but barely had any screentime.

Sicario on NF is very good all around. Better than this trailer actually lol

Don't think a trailer could do any of the Sheridan trilogy justice, but especially that one. First scene will get most hooked, and the build up and tension from there is perfect.

The sequel is a good watch as well and better quality than most follow ups, though it's not quite on the level of Sicario, Wind River, or Hell or High Water. Different director, so probably not a surprise it doesn't quite land the same.

Watched this recently. Beginning is honestly pretty flat after the initial racing scene and doesn't live up to the expectation set by other Howard films, though it does get much more immersive as it goes on and will keep you watching if you're a fan of history or racing.

Felt Rush did a much better job of making me feel interested in the characters and their stories from the start than FvF.

I hear ppl fairly regularly say they just staring the likes of The Sopranos n Breaking Bad.
I don’t see any stigma with it like apparently some others here do! Haha

Exactly, like when you mentioned Banshee. That was out a long time ago and if it wasn’t for you, wouldn’t have got to see Rebecca 🤣 👍

Breaking Bad is another, we didn’t watch that til couple years ago and actually watched BCSaul first

Nice, might have to reboot that up! Been years and I can’t really remember much of it, it’s great rewatching a top series after years have passed.

It's kind of funny because one of the main tropes is on the short list of hated TV and film devices. I'd guess it's probably the biggest reason why I've never felt excited to re-watch it like I have many other series.

Looked at some discussions on it and a lot of the main and side plot points make me want to go back to have another viewing, but I just didn't like the ending at all. Saw a detailed take that echoed how the show left me feeling. Spoiler alert, do not venture on if you haven't finished the show as it will ruin it beyond your wildest imagining.

Spoiler

Even if the focus is on making a huge plot point of rarely portrayed disorders, they could have done a much better job of closing it all out without it feeling like so much of what the audience experiences with Elliot was essentially nothing but a dream, or even worse, dreams within dreams. It's not a great experience to cap off a show that's so heavy in its subject matter, emotion, and immersion with a "that's it" hand wave.

Friend of mine tells this crazy story...he's from El Paso and was attending UTEP. Went to class with this guy from Ciudad Juarez. They ended up hanging out in Juarez one night, went back to the guy's house, and down the stairs walks El Azul Juan Jose Moreno. He'd been going to class and hanging out with El Azul's kid for the whole semester.

Really enjoyed the show, but FWIW Barry Diller recently said that much of it was BS and never happened that way

Yeah, figured that. Why i used term "dramatization". Too many connected dots that made story but i liked it anyway. Reminds me of "Catch Me If You Can", great movie, but very loose on reality.
