If you want to talk about late to the party, I’m watching the original Frasier. I had never seen a single episode before last week and have no idea why but find it to be very amusing.

I really have no idea why I never watched it because I enjoyed the character on Cheers. I find the Niles character to be very funny.

It always had a couple of lines that would actually make you laugh.  That's how I judge a comedy.  Sounds like it should be obvious, I guess, but I've sat through a lot of sitcoms and even "comedy" movies and never cracked a smile.  And I'm a person who likes to laugh.  I just sit there amazed that somebody was actually paid money to write whatever kind of crap I was watching.

Thanks for Babylon Berlin! Amazing “period” reproduction on huge scale. Cool character and plot weaving thought a time of monumental geopolitical upheaval. 

 

And best is this dope octopus  tower! They slide out a block of 🐙 like jenga at cook it up, oh man gotta find a place that do that!

I was initially cold on season 2 of True Detective. Gave it another chance and m now really enjoying it. On episode 6 and looking forward to 7!

I was the same way. I actually started watching it a few years ago and gave up pretty quickly. Just went back to it a few weeks ago and enjoyed it!

Impressed with Vince Vaughn’s performance. Colin Farrell is terrific as well.

yeah, all of that is right in my wheel house ... we tend to associate preWWII berlin with the nazis, but this is a real look at a cosmopolitan city during changing times ... i was hooked by the end of the first show with the train and smoke moving through the forest ... unfortunately, this is the outlook for season 4: https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/leaving-soon/babylon-berlin-leaving-netflix-season-4-wont-come-to-netflix/

started True Detectives 1 for the fourth or fifth ... just a badass season of TV ... got up at 4:30 this morning to watch ep 4 and the long shot in the housing projects ... good stuff ...

Vince Vaughn is an underrated dramatic actor i.e Hacksaw Ridge + Dragged Across Concrete.

Not sure how I feel about new True Detective , could barely finish EP 1, seems like too much unnecessary side show antics just to drag the runtime without any meaning to drive home the plot. But I love Jodie Foster and John Hawkes so I will soldier on.

I mentioned above that I wasn’t overly fond of it either. But I also felt that way about episode 1 of season 2 and ended up liking it a lot! So like you, will definitely stick with it.

Just finished season 2. It was ok at best, nothing near as good as season 1. Started season 3 and got through the first episode so far. It could be interesting.

1 better than 2 (but come on, 1 better than most anything on TV), 2 better than 3.

Yeah, I almost gave up after the 1st episode. Probably would have if not for the cast. Episode 2 was much better - not so chaotic and seems to be settling into the plot line.

I think 2 was better than “ok”, so most definitely you might disagree on 2 over 3. 

We’re on episode 2 of season 3, and it seems to fit more inline with the concept of season 1 than season 2 did. Season 2 felt like it didn’t belong in the same series as season 1. I understand the different plots and characters, but the whole theme of the show was nothing remotely similar. On its own, maybe decent. As a season of the series, following season 1, not good.

Glad I was looking at Golf Central last night.  Paul McGinley told Johnson Wagner that he looks like Borat.   They were laughing about it tonight, but I think Johnson might have been a little less than tickled to death originally.

Im trying to soldier on , it doesn't help  the co less Kali Reis is a terrible actress - then I looked her up because I never heard of her to check her resume....and she's a boxer? I guess this project was so bad Jodie Foster demanded 2x the salary and they couldn't get Zazie Beetz which would have made the viewing experience more enjoyable for me. Doesn't feel like it belongs to the True Detective universe, if that makes sense. If it weren't branded that way I'd skimmed past it on my Max subscription.  Maybe time for another The Wire rewatch until next season of The Gilded Age.
