I have the last two episodes of Ripley to watch. Enjoying it! 👍🏼

Yeah, I’ve read the books, which are exceptional, TR is one of the most unique villains ever created in that you kinda root for him

The series is cool in that they did it a little differently cast the characters as older, maybe around early 30s. And Tom is purely cynical and exclusively pretty creepy and awkward

In the books and original film, he’s younger and got a bit more joie de vivre

But the series is great on its own merits

Oooo interesting, sounds like Boyd Crowder in Justified. May have to check this one out.

Oddly, instead of watching the masters, I'm watching the 2-part Steve Martin documentary on Apple TV.

Finished the Steve doc which I enjoyed.  Now, I've started on 3 Body Problem on Netflix.  Obviously, I'm trying really hard to not watch the masters.

I didn't want to torture myself since just about everyone not named Scheffler that had a chance to win today - Homa, Morikawa, and even Aberg - were guys I placed futures bets on back in December.  Fleetwood, too, but he just wasn't able to shoot 60 like I asked.  LOL!

I mentioned that I recently started the new Mr n Mrs Smith show. Coincidentally there is an actress in the opening scene that also happens to star in another show mentioned in here. 3 Body Problem. The absolutely stunning Eiza González. The woman is almost too gorgeous to take seriously in any role… Sigh

You've got it pretty bad for her.  Understandable.

That is a great show. I think I've watched the full series twice now.

Just finished Peaky Blinders. Really enjoyed the show but I thought the ending was terrible. Why is that so many great shows have crappy endings? Why do the writers who have done such great jobs throughout the runs of these shows drop the ball at the end?

Taylor Made Sim 2 10.5* set at 11* playing at 45”

PXG Gen 2 0811X 3W head set at 4W loft with a 5W shaft, my 345 wood

Nike Vapor 5W head set at 7W loft with a shaft cut to 41” so a 6 wood?

Depends. On rare occasions you have issues like those in Game of Thrones where controlling parts of the writing or other staff prioritize getting done to move onto something new so they phone it in and screw years of production, acting, and writing work and screw the fans out of a good ending. There are also cases where the studio refuses to renew with the full budget for the final season so the staff is limited as to what they can create with less money for travel, sets, advisors, and so on. Happened to Penny Dreadful for the third & final season and it was obvious in the last two or three episodes.

Long story short, humans gonna human once they've secured that paycheck and have more on the way.

Negative, just dig in a bit for the shows I get into on occasion.

Feel free to read if you're bored or ignore if you're not, hah.

GoT had a number of forums & vids discussing what went wrong, and it went so badly people were upset including all the key members of the cast. The final reads had people visibly upset at what was about to happen to some of the characters to wrap things up ASAP.

Penny Dreadful I looked up because it nosedives hard in the last four or so episodes and I wanted to find out what was up. Studio said no more money and that was that.

Something similar happened in the original Stargate series, only it was a bit of suffering from success. It was doing well enough that it just kept getting green lit for another season and the writers kept rolling with the story. Season 5 or 6 has what was supposed to be the actual finale and the last episode of that season is written as such but they were told they could keep on so they did. Then they were told it was over in the middle of season 8 I think so it ends with an upbeat but unresolved closer.

True Detective is hit/miss/hit from Season 1-3 but it just sort of worked out that way. S1 had a single director, S2 had multiple, and S3 also had multiple including the creator/writer of the show, though I believe it had fewer total people in the chair than S2.

TV secret: if you want to pretty much guarantee you'll see the show come to a resolution watch anything by Soderbergh or on NBC. SS always gets his deals to run the number of episodes he'll need and NBC pretty much cancels nothing early... except my poor homey Southland because they thought it was too gritty and because of all the weirdness happening when Leno wanted back in and finally got dropped into an earlier time slot. TNT picked it up, though, and added to the decent lineup they had going for a while there.

HBO/MAX/SHO are also pretty safe to get into a series on.

This absolutely does not fall under anything as a recommendation for the well-heeled denizens of WRX, but in line with The Last of Us, Revolution, and other TV shows dealing with the final gasps of civilization it has occurred to me no show has adequately illustrated how we got there.  Well, I have found the TV show that does just this.

Full disclaimer, the contestants didn't know what they had signed up for, and I suspect they would have been fined/charged obscene amounts if they backed out, but having said that... certainly American culture has completed its fall.

MILF Manor is the best representation of our fall, and while I don't want to watch, I almost can't NOT watch now that I have tapped into it.  It's like the car crash you know you don't want to see.
