Is anyone currently gaming a vintage wedge?

Back in the 90s I bought 3 sets of four, of original SnakeEye wedges from Ernie Vadersen.  Made mostly for touring pros.  Absolutely the best feeling 1018 forged, longer hosel and ferrule, ever, including today's crop of wedges.  The face chrome was awfully thin, thus easily worn off; otherwise I'd be using them today.

I played a 1961 Wilson Dynapower 55* SW for most of last year.  I hit many good shots with it but it was just way too heavy.

Nike VR Pro 48, sits nicely between my PW and my 52 Cobra. I bought the Nike through COVID, it’s hardly been used and works well.

Ben Hogan old original Sure Out sand wedge, 56 x 12 or 14 bounce.  It works first time, 4 out of 5 or better.

I still game these wedges when I use my Mizuno irons. I recently soaked them to rust more. I ended up not liking the extra rust so I soaked them again to remove the finish and rust. I refinished them a few weeks ago. I don't know how the finish is going to hold up. I used gun blue. They play well so I am not concerned that much about the finish. I should have left them original with their aged look.

With all of this great talk, you guys have me thinking about shafting up a few of my TM RAC Y-Cutter wedge heads that I’ve got put away. They aren’t very forgiving, but man I loved those wedges back in the day.

I'm playing a Ping Eye 2+ PW and SW. Not carrying a lob wedge but might consider adding the Eye 2 one to complete the set.

I ended the last part of my season with my old sand wedge in the bag. A “Punch” 57 bent to 55. Love the thinner sole when the ground gets firm. I took out all my sand wedges for a shootout and this is what won.

Cleveland 588 RTG 55* Diadic this past season.  Might go back to my “newer” MacGregor MT Pro Gunmetal 54* just to match my 58*.

I play Vokey's, but this one always goes back in the bag when I'm struggling with strike. Picked it up in a sporting goods store in 1987.

I live for them. My favorite is the Sandy Andy. I also really like my 1969 Wilson Staff PW I have setup @ 52 degrees.  The only modern wedge i own is a  Mizuno T22 45 degree PW.

I'm playing SM9 but I would play pretty much any unused Vokey wedge from the past 10 years. Definitely SM7/8/9/10 are all comparable. 

But if I could find a brand new Cleveland 588, I would have no issues putting it in the bag.

Used to game the Nike SV Tours. Mid 2000's wedge. Love them but recently threw in the Nike Vr Forged Wedges. 

 

Also found a CG14 Cleveland wedge at a thrift store for 2.50. Will be testing it out seeing if it can take out my Nikes
