Bounce is Your Friend on Partial Wedge Shots and Engaging the Turf Prior to the Ball is a Good Thing When Hitting Them

I think I understand your intent. And if I do, it would still be very cumbersome to manage and navigate.

I think if you examined what he's saying from a non cynical perspective then it might make.more sense.

Not saying that perspective is tenable...just not as diabolical/elitist as it can seem.

This is a fairly typical article on how to use the bounce: hit behind the ball to avoid having the leading edge dig or skulling it.

https://golf.com/instruction/short-game/use-bounce-wegde-hit-better-chips/?amp=1

I simply submit that the rewards of learning to avoid chunking or skulling with all your clubs by learning to strike the ball properly with a downward stroke are immense.  The vast majority of people can’t do it with any club.  For someone who needs to be learning to hit the ball first with a descending blow, to tell them to either hit their driver up or intentionally fat their wedges is IMO not doing them any good in the long term.

Some people are wizards with the club.  Ballesteros apparently could pitch with a 3 iron.

Anyone who can reliably not need to use the bounce should feel free to use the bounce.

Its ok you don't need to explain anything to me, also I'm not that smart so it would probably waste your time.

Understood. Based on your posting history my feeling is that you are smarter than you let on. Probably smarter than my local pro who tried to help a friend today. I had to step in and rescue the lesson once the pro started going sideways. I'm glad I was there. He's screwed up half our membership. The staff won't let me teach there but said I could sit in on lessons of people I already know. It's pretty sad actually.

Yes I think you get it. The intent is to actually help people. If someone of questionable skill level or lacking knowledge stumbled on to a thread and there was a "Locked" symbol, they would just move on and wouldn't sit here trying to crack the code some convoluted Cav mechanics. They're going to be happier and more satisfied with their learning experience here because people that know better have prearranged a more appropriate learning experience for them. The locked sections are more like guard rails to keep them from accidentally sabotaging themselves.

You had a good point earlier about the administration of such a system being a challenge. This is where my skills could really serve the golfwrx community. Only me and a few others would have access to peoples posting histories and test scores, and could determine for them the right direction to go and also identify certain forbidden areas--again, and I emphasize this point: not to lock people down or take away their freedom; they are free to access the sections that have been pre-determined to help them. I will set the whole program up for free, and will oversee the testing and certifications for FREE.

Oh c’mon ….you are trying to get self elected to determine what folks are allowed to read here on wrx?  Are you serious?  Based on these posts I think you truly believe this would be helpful but no thank you.

Don't forget the BST as well.  Can’t have a 20 capper with 85mph club speed buying that TX driver shaft.

Yeah, I get it...guided instruction snippets based on evaluations.

But, NO ONE likes overlords or being told they can't access certain parts of instruction.

It's a good idea. But it's a terrible idea...

Yes you do get it. Guided instruction based on evaluations by qualified staff. I have no interest in being an "overlord", but my hope would be that people would seek my guidance with their game improvement plans. A totally systematic approach and precise narrative control is the key to doing this. Surely you understand the necessity of that part.

I thought you said earlier you didn’t think anyone should be able to check posting history? Perhaps you could offer to chair a committee at your club to sort the members wanting lessons with instructors appropriate for their skill level, work ethic and goals.

Ok, I meant that I didn't think that just anyone should be able to check your history. But obviously a designated staff member with the right authority should be able to. The staff couldn't help categorize your needs otherwise.

So you are suggesting you take over WRX, make some tweaks and provide all the lost people with a little direction.

Here we go again. I'm volunteering to help it run more efficiently. Categorizing members/posters would make this possible....and actually make it better for everyone. I feel like a broken record at this point.

interesting.

I was enjoying reading the bounce boys theories and couldn't quite work out if they were for real, even thought they were the same person at one stage.

Now @virtuoso suggests doing an online test to see if we are smart enough to access different parts of WRX, this has flawed me, especially the suggestion that he should be the one to run this new set up.

There are several other highly qualified people that are willing to help people and not control content. Valtiel being one do them not to mention the actual instructors who post regularly here that help people.

Controlling content isn’t needed and despite your high regard for yourself you aren’t that critical to the forum

Awesome - the Wonderlic test for golf although just like with NFL QBs, your results are not an indicator of how you'll perform on the course.
