Go-to epoxy?

There have been threads on this topic, but they're old and I had some questions.

I'm looking for an epoxy. I tinker and build a couple clubs a year, I've used the GolfWorks stuff before but with how often I'm using it it'll often times harden and be a pain in the a** to get out of the tube after a couple months. I've used the brampton stuff and that stuff comes out cleanly, but I've also read that it isn't as strong. Any recommendations for someone who is using the epoxy only every now and then?

One package will do 2-3 clubs, it's easy to mix and takes about 24 hours to set up.  $2 a package is more than buying a larger quantity but the convenience is worth it imo.

Put each bottle in a glass of hot water for 10 minutes, that will allow it to flow again.

I've been using the Brampron's 20/20 long cure fore the last 4-5 years, with no problems. I've been building clubs for 35+ years, and have never had a failure. The key is proper prep, and proper mixing. Do those two things, and it won't matter what epoxy you use.

The Brampton resin (light colored bottle) will start to gel after a few months. So, like the poster above, I drop it in a cup of hot tap water for 10 minutes before use. The hardener (dark) does not gel, so I only warm up the one bottle. This is a common occurrence with some epoxies, and has no effect on the strength.

You should try harder.  There are hundreds of posts here about what adhesives are best for building clubs.  I know because I've got dozens of posts in those threads.

If you heated up the epoxy make sure that you do not have the quick hardening stuff… the additional temperature will make it hardening faster. 
 

BTW I do not use the special Golf Epoxy stuff… I am working at the bicycle engineering’s industry and we are using Epoxy every day. We have 3M glue in larger bottles.

Top line stuff but it is expensive.  The only other downside is that it really smells.

 

For those reasons I stick with Golfworks Tour Set Epoxy VB1002.

I've used Brampton since it was introduced and never had an issue. I've also used Devcon with excellent results when in a pinch.

I used the stuff from Gorilla that you can get from Walmart or Home Depot and it works great, just like all the others.

Gorilla glue Two part epoxy is the best I have found and bond breaks easily when its necessary.

Brampton slow cure epoxy, never any issues. I don't like the Brampton grip solvent or grip activator though.

Yeah it is awesome stuff but it is expensive. It does have an odor but I guess before I was using JB Weld which had an incredibly big and horrendous odor so to me I guess it's not that noticeable. Maybe that's why when I eat leftovers out of the refrigerator that have been there for two weeks I don't notice it because my sense of smell is blunted. LOL.

I've been using the golfworks tour set epoxy with good success, I built myself a little 10" by 10" wooden box with a 60w incandescent lightbulb in it and it gets up to 140* in there and I'll heat cure the builds for 90 minutes which is the cure time on the epoxy without the heating and I've yet to experience a failure.  Good prep work is always a key though.

Heating the tube up softened the epoxy nicely and it came out very easily, I think I'll rely on that little trick. I did vacuum seal the tube in plastic beforehand just to make sure no water leaked into the tube

JB weld two part quick set epoxy. haven't had a bond break yet - other than improper prep before install.
