A or Low Bounce K

Title sums it up. Currently rotate between an M grind and T grind in 60. Like the T grind more than M, especially here in AZ where the bunkers are prone to being hard as a rock. I travel a good bit though and interested in trying something knew in lob. Fairly shallow, will only be used around the green and bunkers. Have heard the low bounce K compared to the T, but nothing of the A grind. Any suggestions or feedback?

Low bounce K with shaved heel is pretty good. And I was a long time L grind guy. Before that (way before) I had a 260.04/6 which looks very similar to A grind, which I’ll get next just to mess around with. Can confirm, low bounce K works well on hard pan, just need to match technique. But I endorse the low K, I’ll end up with another of those too.

If this is helpful I was actually fit by BV into a T grind for firm conditions and a low bounce k for normal conditions based on my technique.

Does the a grind only exist raw? Really don’t want to fork over extra money for a wedge that can’t last as long

The T, LBK and A will all play somewhat similar in the square position.  The big difference comes out when you start to open the club face.  The relief on the heel and trailing edge of the T keeps the effective bounce low with the face open.  The sole width on the LBK allows you to add a good amount of bounce when you open the face which makes it effective when played square off of tight lies but also effective out of soft sand when you open the face and expose the bounce.  The A sits in between the 2.  It sits low in the square position like the T and the LBK..  It adds more bounce that the T when you lay the face open but less than the K as it has a narrower sole.

This is a really good rundown...when I played the LBK, I had to be really mindful of the leading edge when I opened the face even a little around the greens.  Keeping the face square was great on tight pitches with the LBK.

I ended up ordering a LBK with some grind, similar to the JT grind. Wasn’t cheap! Should be fun though, will report back compared to T

How did the LBK work out for you?

It’s solid, really like the way it plays out of the sand and is a bit friendlier with mishits than the T. Looks great at address and plays well on full shots. It’s a nice complement to the T if you rely on opening the face a fair amount but conditions are softer. Ie AZ with summer and winter grasses…
