3M epoxy DP810, 420 etc

These adhesives vary in strength based on how the bond is prepped, and what materials are being bonded.  For example, there is a difference in strength with aluminum, cold rolled steel, and stainless steel.  Sometimes the difference is significant, so pay attention.  For example, DP420 is only 1800 psi with stainless steel.  Not ideal.  

 

 

 

I would imagine the GW stuff is similar but they probably don't do the testing that 3M Does?  

So GW VB1003 = 3M DP8xx  (Great for Graphite & Adapters to graphite shorter cure time small jobs)   (Less Strength)

      GW VB1001 = 3M DP4xx (Steel to Irons/wedges longer cure time full set jobs) (Full Stength)

 3M DP810 is an acrylic adhesive. It's not epoxy.  Same for DP8410NS (my favorite).  Both VB Golfworks adhesives are epoxy.

I use DP810 but has anybody used DP820? I heat cure all my epoxies and I love it but during the summer time working in my garage I’m lucky to get 8 minutes of work time… lucky.  Would love it if I could get about 15-20 out of it.

Anyone ever had any issues with the DP810? I just switched to it and everything seems to be going good. Just wondering why people would switch to something other than the 810.

DP820 would be fine, although a quick google search suggests it's quite expensive.

Yeah, I don’t think the extra work time is worth the $$.  I have been purchasing the DP810 from ZORO and they always have 20% off coupons they send out each month so I’ll just deal with it.
