ZX5 iron rust?

Hi- have played Zx5 for 2 years. Noticed today rusting where the badge meets cavity in all clubs 5i-PW but not AW which was ordered separately. 
Is this a known issue? I take great care of my clubs.

I have played with lots of metal clubs for 40 years, none of which have rusted but thanks.

Partly the reason why i only like playing one-piece cavity backs. My OCD absolutely cannot stand dirt/rust/mud trapped behind glued plates, gaps, crevasses etc when i clean them.

 

Having said that, i play raw Vokeys 😂.

Happens in lots of cbs, water gets trapped and gathers there. Get a little wire wool or better still a dremmel with a wire attachment, spray some wd40 in there and it will rub right off.

Moisture sitting in that area and certain fertilizers can also make it worse.

Yes the post above is correct i noticed this happends with clubs that have a slot or crevis in the back that cant get air or be wiped dry like a ping i230 or i blade among others. Those tend to show this sludgy rust at the corners too. Some show a dryer powdery-ish rust like yours.

I remember the original Callaway Big Bertha irons had a caution in the included paperwork to avoid getting water in the back channel to prevent rusting.  I always figured it was more an issue created by paranoid corporate lawyers than a reality.  Guess I was wrong.

Clubs with more nooks and crannies, that have a rough (not polished) finish, tend to hold moisture more.

I've seen people ask this question with many different brands. It's not unique to Srixon.

Any club will rust, if water stays on it long enough. If those ZX5's get wet in that cavity, it's impossible to get all the water off.

Rust, on any surface, increases spin. Perhaps you could get  some trackman numbers from before and after you clean them.  Thanks.

 

Fyi, eye2 irons are made out of the most durable stuff ever found and they do not rust.   Imagine how good they would be with rust and 0 offset.

I'd be more worried about the toe of that 7 iron then a few little spots of surface rust. 

Did you drag that along pavement ?

Agree with the barkeepers friend, used it to clean up a set of ZX3's, did a great job, good stuff.

False.  This has been debated, and proven wrong in multiple threads.  It is misleading to keep stating this for golf clubs.

I have a custom made set fitted from a private club that are about 10 months new and they are having the same rust issues where the cavity badge insert is located. The club pro that fitted me reached out to the rep and they are offering to replace the head BUT I have to mail them and wait about 2 weeks for the turn around. It has been a fight with Srixon rep as they argue water is the culprit...wtf, idiot, yes, it becomes trapped in your faulty design. They could provide other options to avoid disruption in my playing as I play a few days every week BUT noooo.  My FL house has an A/C garage, the clubs are on the cart always, and live in a high end club. I have meticulously maintained the clubs. The new versions this year do not have the the cavity badge insert...interesting, right? Probably not doing business with Srixon in the future. In the past, club manufacturers send a new set with a return label for the existing without interupption and guess what, if I fail to return them my club would be bill me for another set. Low end service considering I paid 230/club.
