The i500s were Pings response to the P790 and this latest iteration (the i530s) may finally be better... probably because Ping caved and added some polymer. The feel of the i530 is greatly improved. To my eye, they are better looking than the 790 by a long shot, and they are remarkably forgiving, given the head profile. If I were to buy the i530s, it would be in the retro spec, because I have no idea what I would do with a 185 yard 7 iron. Yes, they are long. In the standard spec, about 1.5 clubs longer than the T150s (that includes the gains based on the hollow construction and the stronger lofts). I play the T150s and they are the best irons I have ever owned. Great looks, perfect numbers for me (w/ Axiom 105s) and IMHO, plenty forgiving. But they're an apple and the i530s are an orange. If you like fruit, you'll like them both, but based on your question (and what you shared), I would be looking at the i530 and T200. I'm quite certain you'll find the i530s to be more forgiving and longer. But they may not be more playable than the T200s. On equivalent strikes, the T200s are likely to go higher, spin more, and hold greens better. Put simply, while the i530 and T200 are both big dogs that can hunt, the T200 is more housebroken.

Really good post. The T200 are excellent. In my opinion they get a bad rap because of the badging, but they really perform.
I’ve been teetering back and forth between  MP 245 and i530 and decide to go with MP245 because I think that they’ll be just a bit more playable….although I have second guessed myself a couple hundred times….lol

The i530 standard spec I tried are stronger lofted than the 245s, and the numbers I got reflected that. I mean, it's easier for me to say which one of my kids I like better. Come to think of it, I do know which one of my kids I like better and I honestly don't know between these two irons.

I'm in the same boat exactly.  Badging on T-series is a concern for sure as I don't change irons all that often and I think that both the MP and i530 would keep their looks over time.  Bottom line for me would be on a toe miss, which iron would offer the best combo of forgiveness / distance if you are not always in the middle.  I guess it's time to dig in and get fitted this spring.

so im a 0-5 cap dont play enough anymore to really keep track, when i did i was a +, my iron game has always been my week point, so hitting greens is what i want. I have not played a Ping iron since the ISI days. in the last few years I have had 790's first gen, then i tried the Callaway rogue pro st, now i have a set of i525.  I have to say these i525 are SOOOO good, like night and day compared to both those sets.  I play on a winter trackman league, the long iron distance and height is bar none every time.   have a couple rounds on them this spring and im super impressed, yeah the feel is not great but they perform.  I can hit low sweeping draws and if i want even a high weak fade.   and every ball i have hit into a green has not gone more that 10 feet, i have been impressed where my pitchmark is verse where the ball ended up, and i play a Left dash prov x.  Im a sweeper so low and toe are my miss and so far im not seeing any distance loss.  if you can get over the feel, go for it!

So in terms of distance I thought they were longer and I found that it was more forgiving than the T200. I just felt that even on balls off the toe I didn’t lose as much distance with the i530. I have always like ping irons so not sure if that played a part in it. My only concern with them is how strong the lofts are with a 42 degree pitching wedge.

you need to get the utility wedge as well with this set.  i play i530s and they are great.  you do have to be careful with distance as they are extremely long

Absolutely hated the i500, but based on reviews on this site, the i530 appears to be a huge improvement.  What still seems to be an issue on the 530 though, based on the testing data posted on here, is fairly wide distance dispersion based on strike, which was a huge issue in the 500s.

I just moved off T200s (too large of head), to T100s (great but inconsistent for me), to Miura KM-700s (great but inconsistent for me), to Ping i59s.

Ive demoed everything this year it feels like and out of the lot what felt the best were these three:

Ping i59

Ping i530

Srixon ZX5

Close:

Mizuno 241 & 243

Srixon ZX7

TM P770

Ping i230 & BPS

I would highly suggest getting a few fittings scheduled and just hit everything you can including shafts as it was very interesting to see how the same shaft feels completely different based on each company’s head.

Trackman was a serious bonus.

It’s a bit of a time investment but worth it once you get the field narrowed down.
