Ping Blueprint T & S split sets

Any love on the Blueprint T portion of these sets? I hit the Blueprints off grass yesterday and liked the T's maybe more than the S. What's the longer term feedback from split set users? Not seeing many reviews of the T's out there from guys gaming them and I'm super curious how the blend is going and where the split is happening. 4,5,6 in the S?

Probably depends on your delivery. They go similar distances. If you're steep stick to an entire set of “S” as they offer much more protection.

I had og blueprint.  They are the shortest heel to toe blade length in the modern era of clubs.  If you miss is heel or toe side, they aren’t very forgiving.  If you have more of a vertical miss, but still relatively center of the club face that’s where they shine for their form factor.

I am not steep. Too shallow if anything. I tried I210's last season and I can't make them work for me. Such a process figuring these things out. I am not going with the S though it's close. I was surprised at how similar the ball speeds were and the feel with the T's was superior. I think I'm going T100/150 to get the season going. Better shaft options as well. If they don't work, I'll build a used set of BP T & S. Thanks for thoughts. Very helpful.

i disagree.  i think the t model is very playable from 6 iron down.  that is where i did my split and got the s model in the 4 and 5 iron.  the t model has the same ball speed for me vs. my i230's and with my shallow angle of attack i get much better contact.  if the s model's 6 iron had the speed pocket i probably would have gotten that.  the 4 and 5 iron are long for me.  longer that the i230.

Would be nice to try that speed pocket in the 6. Maybe it went too far?

would be cool.  i dont really have a huge gap from 5 with the pocket to the 6 without.  just would have been interesting.  i really like these irons. really good ballspeed for the type they are and i get great launch.  played 5 times last week ( live in michigan ) and truly enjoyed ever round with them.  like then way more than my i230's and find them a hair easier than my mizuno 221's.  i have the same shaft in all 3 sets so they are pretty equal to compare.

Well, I started with the PW in the T's thinking why not try it, and it was sweet. Then I tried the 7 and it was sweet. I mean really good.  Like night and day different from I210's for me. Then I tried the six. Missed the first thin but then went pure there. My shallow swing isn't working on the I210's but it was working with the T's. I think I tried a couple of 9 iron shots and started shaping them pretty easily. Goes to show you that more forgiveness isn't necessarily the answer. I've been trying to make the I210's work for a year to no avail. Clearly great clubs but not for me.  I haven't pulled any triggers yet but if I did, I'd get 5/6 in the S and go T from there.

I had a Ping fitting last week at our club last week.  I hit some shots with my T100s and the Ping guy hands me a club. I look and it’s the Blueprint T…. It’s definitely small, almost no room to miss it actually.  It felt great and I hit it great.  Hit the blueprint s also, they also felt great.  He ended up recommending 4,5,6 in S and 7-PW in T… not sure what I’m gonna do yet

I tend to prefer (and hit) small clubheads better.  The Blueprint T's (or the OG Blueprints) sound amazing.  Im a long time Golden Ram user, puts these in my zip code.

The downside, I'm a cheap so-and-so, LOL.  And I already have plenty of Ram Tour Grinds lying around.

The upside of the Pings for me is the added bounce.  With a longer than "normal" wrist to floor at slightly above avg height, that bounce plays well for me.

Options are good, but the indecision that rides along is less so...

I considered a split set but ended up going with a full set of S. To me, the aesthetics of the S are darn near perfect and the forgiveness is actually quite impressive. The T's look great but I don't have a ton of interest in mishitting one on a crisp fall morning and losing blood flow to my fingers. If I had split the set, the plan was to go T around the 7 iron. The pocket on the 4 and 5 iron in the S offer quite a bit of ball speed and forgiveness aid and the extra couple degrees of launch doesn't hurt in a 6 iron.

Great review of the T's by Matt Saternus on Plugged In today. Guess he's been gaming the OG BP's for a handful of years. He did say the numbers were virtually identical between the new and the original but maybe sound / feel slightly softer. He does love them though. That guy has access to any clubs he wants and if I recall, he used to game Miura, so that's impressive.

I have the S and so far they are way good and I’m just puring them more times than not. They seem the perfect fit for me. But damnit I wished that Blueprint T was available 20 years ago because it really is to my eye the best looking iron I have ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot in 35 years. I’ve always loved a boxier blade and it’s just absolutely perfect. My heart says to just get them but my brain accepts I’m not the player I once was. Sad state of affairs

I might try to find a used set of OG Blueprints for walk around clubs. Par 3 courses / practice, etc. That state of affairs is real but the college players at my course don't hit blades these days either.

Same for me. I played Miura MB 001 & MB 101's when they were introduced. Due to wear I traded those for an  OG BP 6-W/S55 4-5 for 3 seasons and could not have been happier. I'm building a BPS 4-5 and BPT 6-P with MMT 125TX to see how they work for me. I totally agree with Matt on the BP vs BPT except initial trials with the BPT (7-iron & PW) is they are a little longer by a 4 yard average and average 300 RPM less spin than the BP.  Another thing I've found is comparing BPT to the BPS 7 iron, I actually get better numbers from the T. Marginal but better.

If this set doesn't perform as well as I expect (and exceed my current set), I'll be happy to build another set of what I presently have in the bag.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I demoed both at my fitting out at Ping HQ and walked away with a full set of BPS.  I actually hit the T just fine.  I just didn't see anything that the T would do "better" than the S, whereas the S offered more forgiveness than the T.  That was easy to tell pretty quickly through a couple of mishits with each.  Actually "best for best," I might have hit the T just a slight bit better than the S...I remember maybe a little longer/lower launch.  But "bad for bad," the S was miles ahead.  It really wasn't a tough decision.

Other than the "fun" of playing a blade though, I can't really see a reason for the T to be in the bag of anyone other than elite ball strikers.  The S is in my opinion the best players option iron I have ever hit.  Feels great, looks great, performs great, and enough forgiveness that you notice it on bad shots.

Less forgiving than ZX7 or T150, probably similar forgiveness to T100. I got a split set when I was injured. Now that I'm healthier, the shafts aren't the best fit. I have SteelFiber i80s in them, about to swap in Axiom 105s in the Blueprint T P and 9 and Axiom 95s in the Blueprint S 8 - 6. I really got the T's for the thinner sole for chipping, not for any advantage with a full shot. You're right, don't see many sets in the wild. I think partly because they're priced a bit more than the competition and Ping doesn't do many deals. Also because Ping has not historically been a forged iron company. But they are winning on tour just as much as any other player's iron so the performance is definitely there. But test and bag the ones that perform the best, not the prettiest.
