Plumbers neck mallets

I recently picked up a Bobby Grace The Fat Man off eBay and threw on a long slant neck from GolfWorks. It’s been awesome.
You can fairly easily turn any double bend mallet with a straight borehole into a plumbers neck.

How's the headweight with the extra weight from the hosel?  That's the only issue I've had with those Golfworks hosels.

I could see that being an issue with the steel ones but the aluminum ones are practically a non issue. That length of shaft was around 20 grams and the neck added 21 grams. The head weight increased but apples to apples would be weighing it with 4.5 inches of shaft along with it.

It had been perfectly face balanced with the double bend but now is about ~97% face balanced. It has just a touch of toe hang.

I must have missed your explanation. Spare no detail…..

Necks have nothing to do with forgiveness they're for timing and aim. Whichever neck a person can time up and return to square at impact is going to be the best neck for someone, just because a standard plumbers neck sits in the middle of a double bend and a flow/slant neck doesn't mean it's the most forgiving. In fact plumbers necks are often the heaviest necks and will move the COG more heel side thus making a putter less forgiving when it comes to toe strikes compared to a double bend of flow/slant neck. That's unless a company moves weight which a lot don't. The other part is you can get all 3 of those necks to achieve the same amount of toe hang which would make your statement wrong again.

Forgiveness is all about weight distribution, the more weight you can move away from the COG of a putter the more forgiving it will be, that's forgiveness and will always be related to that, not necks, not grips, not face milling/inserts, not shafts. Just because a neck works best for you doesn't mean it's the most forgiving because at the same time what you like may not work for many others.

He's right! Necks have no forgiveness...but the difference in neck style can really help people deliver the best roll based on their stroke.  With that being said...neck styles use in torque balanced putters are different and can arguably add more forgiveness. For regular putters...not so much.

Back on track....this was my gamer all last year.  Milled in the USA. Feels good. Looks good. Customizable.

Seemore M5 HT with their version of a plumbers neck. I will say...the fact that the neck goes into the head at the 70* lie angle make the putter look and roll much nicer for me personally.

I know PXG Battle Ready 2’s you can get a plumber neck.  Has anyone tried the new Scotty Phantom’s that I think are released on the 29th.  Some appear to have a plumbers neck?  I play a Scotty blade now but I’m going to try a mallet next.  Too much hee bee gee bee’s lately for those 5-10 footers.  I dunno.   I need help!

None of the new scotty mallets have PN.  We were wishing, but sometimes they seem to want to preserve the limited market.  Not all the time mind you, but I guess this year they did.  The 7.2 limited is the only one I can think of (other than the CH versions) that are PN.

Would the truss style plumbers neck help the COG issue? Or is the weight difference so tiny it's negligible? Currently very close to pulling the trigger on one of these guys.

I honestly do not know since there isn't a ton on them, it might, it might not, I know it does increase the stability so that might make it a wash.

Not listed. You have to call a rep on Monday when they open. Also ask for 20% off and they’ll be like $210.

I called this morning and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Call Cole at Phone: 512.617.7131 the other reps might not know what theyre doing.

If Cole doesnt answer and/or busy and you have to speak to another general sales rep ask them to lookup these item numbers (was given to me as options when I bought mine):

They had like 30 of these in stock a week or two ago.
