Iron shaft that is similar to the Tensei 1k black shaft?

Might be a silly question but I tend to over spin my irons. But my 2 iron and driver have Tensei 1k black that I was fit for and helps keep the launch and spin down. Is there an iron shaft that’s a similar profile that would be a good one to try out?

The profile itself is not what dictates spin, but rather how you react. For me... shaft is all about feel and timing. Once I find what feels right and lets me time the shot, I wouldn't switch.

 

I would always start with the following:

- try a lower spinning ball

- decrease your lofts

- iron heads with higher CG to launch it lower

 

If that doesn't work, then try different shafts. And just because something is heavier/stiffer, doesn't mean it will make the ball spin less or launch less. Since we know nothing about you or your swing, nobody here should give you recommendations, it's at best a blind guess.

Can't say what steel aligns with Tensei 1k black.  Its profile is rather common, similar to Ventus TR Blue.  Try to find a set of low spin, stout Tensei AV White AM2 shafts, they come is S & X. 

 

You might be able to order them from Titleist since they bought out MCAs Red, Blue and White Tensei inventory.  Only I am sure if shaft only is possible. They are outstanding shafts.  I no longer play the full set, but still enjoy Tensei 90S in my 718 TMB 2 iron.

What shafts are currently in your irons?

1K Black is very linear profile that is stout in the mid and tip but gets a bit softer in the handle.  I'd say the closest in terms of launch/spin and EI profile would be C-taper and PX LS.  Both are very tip and mid stiff if I remember correctly.  Both are also mid-low/low as well.

 Curious to know what iron shaft you settled on if still playing Tensei 1k black. Is it 65 or 75 s/x you are playing?

Wiuke you say c taper has a softer handle than project X in iron shafts? Any idea of balance point differences? Is c taper more tip heavy?

Oooo.......that's a tough one to answer because both are extremely handle stiff.  I would say that C-taper still feels firmer in the handle.  No idea on balance points although KBS is known to be higher balance point in general.

Is DG120 X100 one to throw in the mix also? 
 

weight is same as PX 6.0 and C-Taper 120S

I have the Tensei black 75X driver and the old Kuro Kage 90X hybrid shaft: both are supposedly very similar to the Tensei 1K. 

 

Steel irons that I've liked: C-taper 130, X100, Nippon 125X. They all have a pretty similar load profile.

That one has a softer handle than either C-taper or PX.
