Duke was not supposed to beat 1 seed Houston...but here they did!!!

 

I am surprised but hopeful! I know NC State is riding a heater but this is the 3rd meeting this month and Duke beat them by 15 at PNC and lost to them by 5 at the ACC Tourney so it's not like Duke will be intimidated.  Sorry Wolfie but all good things must end!

And just like Tennessee with Edey, they hardly ever doubled down on him. Make him kick the ball out and see if someone else can beat you.  Because you know he’s going to score down low. Edey had 40 today. 
 

Filipowski should have gone pro last year. He was terrible in the tournament.

It’s worth watching even if you know the result.  Watching Burns in the 2nd half was just pure fun!

My wife and I are NC State grads. We are enjoying spring just a bit more this year! Both teams in the Final Four!

He plays a great post game.  He's tall, big and fairly quick on a move. He kicks it out and they have plenty of 3 point range.  Hard guy to defend without getting yourself in foul trouble.   I don't think Edey would do well in the NBA as post isn't really a thing anymore.

I left early after three years - IBM was recruiting us baby nerds straight out of Leazar Hall to go help fix Y2K issues at their RTP campus. This was a big point of contention with my parents - they REALLY wanted me to graduate; I wanted to go make money. (That gig paid a lot better than making pizza at Lily's over in 5 Points!) It was such a peculiar point in history and I didn't believe there was anything more they could teach me for where things were going - we were making up the internet as we went along and after a year at Big Blue, I jumped into the dotcom boom. 

 

When the dust of that cleared, I was 4 years outta school and REALLY considered going back to finish. Then fortune struck and I was like "Well ... why though?"

 

Lots of stuff I learned in the Leazar basement lab I still use to this day 🙂

SPOILER ALERT:  It's not pretty (to me, a Duke fan)...one team forgot how to guard a big man!

 

Congrats to the NC State and I was wrong again about Duke.  I didn't think they had a chance against Houston and I thought they would beat NC State.  Whoops on both!!

Re-watched that game last night on Youtube. I was only 5 years old when it went down but do clearly remember seeing Lorenzo Charles' dunk at the buzzer.

I meant Duke would lose to Houston in this year's tourney and then defeat NC State yesterday.  Sorry about the confusion.  Never thought of the irony of Houston being involved!

That’s why if you double you can take away his step into the lane to shoot the little hook. And you don’t have to foul because you can just stay straight up not contesting a shot. If he gets turned into the lane for that “jump” hook he’s going to hit it probably 70% of the time. That’s a given. I’d rather make him kick it out and make their perimeter players make shots.

 

The issue with doing that is he will physically go through the double team and won’t ever get an offensive foul called. Similar to Shaq of years ago, a defensive player having established position doesn’t mean much when a bigger player can just move them off the spot.
