BST Transaction - Should grip be included

Just want to be sure I am not being unreasonable. When you purchase a club on the BST would you expect it to come with a grip. Bought a wedge and when it arrived I almost laughed when it came without a grip.  Nothing was mentioned that club was ungripped and the pics in ad and additional pics I requested, no indication of gripless club.  Messages seller and nothing even though messages shown as read.  I know it’s no big monetary loss, but wouldn’t you at least expect a grip on club. Guess I never ran into this before.

Would fully expect a grip unless it was disclosed in the listing picture or text. You’re not being unreasonable.

It should have been disclosed. It's not like the seller could have accidentally overlooked it.

I’ve come to learn on here and the bay as well that you shouldn’t assume anything. If it’s not pictured or described, then I ask. I know this will be in the minority, but if there wasn’t a picture with a grip or described as having a grip then personally I wouldn’t be surprised or upset if it didn’t come with one. But like I said, I’ve learnt enough to ask especially of late. 
 

i do agree the seller should have the decency to mention it, but technically doesn’t have to. If it should or advertised a grip and arrived gripless, then I’d cause a stink.

It should have clearly been disclosed in the ad or a picture of the club with no grip.

I would be a little weirded out if it was unexpected, but it wouldn't be nearly enough for me to leave negative or even neutral feedback.

 

I'd just giggle a little and put a grip on it

Yeah, 75% of the time I'm changing the grip anyway, but for sure no grip should be disclosed. I'd simply not do business with the seller again.

True, it's better to ask and be sure.  But if someone advertises a golf club for sale, golf clubs are made up of a clubhead, shaft and a grip (and preferably assembled).  Anything less and you've got some of the components of a golf club.  

 

I think OP is right to expect a grip, but as others have said, no need to make a big stink about it.  Neutral feedback at worst and move on.

I get that it’s not a big deal at all, but the big issue I have is that the seller is ignoring the buyer. At a minimum the seller should reply and apologize for the misunderstanding. I’m not saying negative feedback is needed, but I worry how the seller would act if it was something that would be a big deal and am curious about what else they might intentionally omit in future listings.

If a headcover is not pictured then I assume there isn't one. Can't say the same about the grip LOL. It would definitely go a long way if the seller simply said something along the lines of shoot I am sorry I should have mentioned that, here's 10 bucks back to throw a grip on.

I’d say it’s reasonable to expect the club to arrive with a grip on it. I also expect the club head to be glued onto the shaft, but maybe I just have high standards.

Agree with everyone, a grip is one of those things that’s implied unless otherwise stated.

 

So the real question, are you willing to share the sellers name so we can update our ignore lists?

Giving the seller a third chance to acknowledge the situation.  Then will name the seller if warranted.

Definitely a honked up transaction. IMO, anything not "standard", whether that be wear or tear or "accessories" should be mentioned. Sure, if it's not pictured it's probably best to ask, but I don't think I'd ever ask about the grip unless some kind of wording in the ad or something poking into one of the pics gave me questions. 

 

The worst part is them leaving you on read on the messages. I'd normally give them the opportunity to explain it away, but if they aren't even going to bother to reply, I'd probably be leaving them a neutral feedback.

Any assembled club(s) or shaft(s) without grip(s) should be stated in the description and included with photos.  However,  I would prefer to receive any club without a grip for 2 reasons

 

1.  I change grips on nearly every club/shaft purchased 

2. Prevents any surprise undisclosed alterations and mis-identified shafts.   Lots of hidden hack jobs underneath grips.

 

GolfWRX at one time required grip removal and photos of the butt end of graphite shafts listed in BST.  Never really enforced and the requirement was dropped

one time I bought a driving iron on the bst with a tour-ad shaft (glued) and when I opened the box the shaft was logo up LOL...seller took pics and everything but never showed it as logo up/down, I just assumed it was down like everyone else has it.  I laughed and even msg the seller any particular reason for it being up?? he replied "NO no particular reason" he could've just BS'd me and said it was Pured and the sticker fell off and I would've believed him. HA

I think we all agree that the grip SHOULD have been included. The more significant issue is a lack of response from the seller. A simple response of ownership and apology and this thread never exists. Appreciate the buyer not looking to out him, but some accountability on seller end would be nice.

This is kinda funny in a weird way. If I get a used club there’s probably about a 90% chance I’m replacing the grip. Yet if I bought one and it showed up with no grip I’d probably be annoyed.

If I bought a shaft to plug in a head and test out I would be pretty butt hurt if I had to slap a grip on it and end up selling it a few days later anyway. Feel the same away about in your case buying a single club then finding out it needs a grip before testing.
