Black desert

I was able to sneak away in feb to play black desert and sand hollow as well as wolf creek 

I would never play wolf creek again.. overpriced and rude..

Sand hollow was hands down my favorite of the 3 

Glad we were able to play black desert before it goes semi private this fall 

That black lava is something else

We just returned from a wonderful golf trip.  We stayed in two houses at Entrada including the Johnny Miller house.  It was very nice.

 

Our eight golfers ranked the courses like this.  I told them to use whatever criteria they chose.   

 

1. Black Desert (It got seven votes for #1 and one for #2)
2. Entrada
3. Copper Rock
4. Coral Canyon
5. Sand Hollow

I think the slow play influenced many (they were 22 minutes behind by 9 am) at Sand Hollow.  SH had irrigation problems and lots of their grass was dead.  But even without those issues, it would not rank above #4.

 

Black Desert blew us away.

 

Everybody said they would play all of the courses again.

My buddy is playing Black Desert today as he got a comp round. I'd love to play there but not at almost $300.

 

If you're here again and have a spare day consider playing The Ledges. It's in pretty good shape. And if you don't mind playing with a fellow WRX'r I can get you on for cart fees only.

we are thinking of  moving to St. George. Are there plenty of bars and restaurants in the area? Anyone a member of Bloomington CC by chance? If so how is the membership, the course the members? THank you

I'm setting up a trip with 16 guys and Black Desert is not available(PGA event), should we still go? Thinking:

 

Copper Rock

Sand Hollow

Sky Mountain

Wolf Creek on way back to Vegas airport

 

Thoughts?

Copper Rock and Sand Hollow are both good courses. Sky Mountain has some good views but it’s a muni course and not in the same league. I haven’t played Sand Hollow for a while but a buddy told me it was in the worst shape he’s seen it in years. Not sure if that is still an issue.

 

Another option is The Ledges. If it interests you I can put you in touch with the head pro and you may be able to get a deal due to the size of your group. There are also several BNB’s right on the course if you need a place to stay. Send me a DM if you would like me to look into that for you.

 

Wolf Creek is a fun course and if you’ve never played it it’s worth the stop. It’s not a course I would want to play very often though as I find some of the holes pretty gimmicky. Others I’m sure disagree with me on that.

I just played Sand Hollow and Copper Rock about a month ago. 

Sand Hollow was in decent shape, but from what I was told it had been a bit rough in the fairways and I could see a few spots that looked like it was recovering. Greens were good.

Copper Rock, in my opinion, was in a better shape fairway wise. The greens were great. Everything rolled really nice. 

 

 I was hoping to play Ledges as I was told it was in pretty good shape by other golfers I had hooked up with. But three operations in the last year slowed me down a bit. But that one is on my next time list.

What would you all recommend between Sky Mountain and Coral Canyon? Or any other ideas? Already playing Black Desert, Copper Rock and Sand Hollow, but need a 4th course.

 

Same question for Mesquite, any thoughts between Oasis Palmer or Falcon Ridge? Already hitting Wolf Creek and Conestoga.

Worth it is subjective I guess but I think those 4 courses are a lot of fun. Nothing super special but 4 good tracks for sure. And what do you mean by what order to play?

Going in about a month during the first week of May.  Currently on the tee time waitlist for Monday May 5th at Black Desert--anybody have experience using the waitlist/what are the opinions on success rate for getting a tee time that way?
