Ball Outside Lead Foot Drill

The drill where you setup with the ball inline or past your lead foot and hit it with an iron to promote weight shift and moving the low point up. I've seen a few instructors talk about it but I'm looking for the post by @MonteScheinblum if anyone has it. Not sure if it was Instagram or not. The caveat to the drill was that you were aiming for a particular ball flight... Monte, et al, what was that ball flight?

Here is a pretty good video of the same drill.  He is a stack & tilt guy, but good job explaining the drill.   He doesn't mention the fade part, but does hit baby fades in his swings.   Evidentially I don't know how to embed videos, so here is the link.

He does address the swing path caveat though, he wants you to make sure you don't come excessively over the top.

 

Something to note is his drill is moving the ball up just a few inches, to the instep of your lead foot. Monte's version is moving the ball "stupid forward", like a few inches outside your lead foot.

 

My instructor gave me a drill last year: rehearsal swings without a ball and without moving my arms rotate and clip the ground in front of my left foot in a path ~45+ degrees to the left... The most over the top feeling of my life! It's amazing I can feel that and still hit draws. Sorry to say I need to get back to this. I think I'll be throwing in Monte's version of the drill too.

I also use it to try and neutralize my path as it tends to get too far in to out.

It's pretty much my go to when working on staying in left tilt longer.  Great drill

Remove the “s” in https. Though the software usually seems to embed without doing that these days.

I was attempting this drill at the range today. The local pro had to drop what he was doing to run over and explain proper ball positioning to me 🤣
