Ping G730

As #AskGolfNut mentioned, the G730s are ok but not anymore forgiving than the i530s. Maybe they are not even necessary any longer? Shovels are not popular here :-).

However, being a long time “G-Man” I added a set of these with the UST Recoils-Dart. My swing speeds are around 80 with irons. Several rounds in now,  may my be strike , shaft or ball but I have found these to fly a good ten yards further than my Mizzy 245s and pretty much drop and stop on some pretty hard greens in FL. Agreed that they are a bit clunkier on firmer fairways but make up for it with amazing results from wacky lies that we golfers put ourselves into. If you judge these by feel in the testing bays, you will run away screaming. But, out on the course, with all the various conditions, they feel pretty damn solid, with the 8,9,W & U being deadly accurate with almost no variation on front to back distance. Hovering around a 10hcp, every players iron brand seems playable to me but these are kinda' like cheating. Fugly, but effective. Confidence inspiring.

Took my i530’s out last night for the first time and played 9 holes just irons.  Played 3 balls.  They just want to go straight with anything other than a terrible swing (had a couple pull hooks).  While playing 3 balls the interesting thing was my best and worst strikes weren’t that far off in distance.  Had a couple that I’d hit pure and was amazed to find the poorly struck ball just a couple yards off.

Sweet! I know I will add the i530s to my collection soon enough.

Which recoil dart did you end up with?  My SS for the 7I is between 78-82 and have tried the 75F3 along with the Slate S graphite.  I know that Ping also offers the 75F4 as a stock option but having hard time trying to locate one to try.  The Slate S was a little to high launching for me, and while the F3 was very good I just want to make sure to try the F4.  Thoughts on which dart you went with and why?  TIA.  Cheers!!

75 F3, solid shaft. I wanted the Alta but they only had the UST. I liked the UST in my 245s but wanted an even higher flight of the Alta. But the Darts are plenty high flying and G730s are silly easy to play.

I played my first round with these yesterday. This was after I questioned the purpose as they seem to be a G430, just maybe a little larger.

Bit my on course experience was an eye opener. The 5 and 6 gave me a nice flight, not too high, and pretty straight. The 7-UW seemed to get up higher, as they should. Very consistent distance. Look, they aren’t buttery smooth forged, but, they feel fine, and I did get a little feedback on toey shots. 
Stock TT mid 100 regular flex. I generally get along with DG shafts. Standard lofts.

Just curious ... Have you hit the 430s enough to be able to notice what differences there are?  Thanks!

Same as the G430 woods. Word not allowed hits go similar distances to those that are tattooed.

Yeah, I also have a G430 5 hybrid and a G430 Max 7 wood.

Yes, played G430 with the AWT 2.0. Quite honestly they are very similar. I think the badge on the 730 is more refined, but being that, I’d struggle to tell the difference.

FWIW, I kinda like the looks of the 730 better also.  Thanks JAM!
