Ventus Black TR vs Diamana WB vs GD VF?

Has anyone tried all 3? What are your thoughts? I’ve been fit previously into a Ventus Black TR 6X, but for fun I tried out the Graphite Design VF 6TX and really like it a lot. However - my spin is up using it in a QI10 so I’m wondering if it’s the head or the shaft, or a combination. Also intrigued by the WB 63TX as it sounds like a similar profile as both. Any input would be appreciated!

I had the TR Black, currently game the VF and have tested the WB.  TR Black is the lowest spin outta the three.  VF and TR Black are the most similar as they are very tip and mid stiff but the VF has a slightly softer handle.  WB is a different EI profile in that it's softer in the tip but has a very stiff mid and handle.  It sits in between the VF and TR Black in terms of spin when I hit them side by side in a trackman bay.  TR Black and WB are both super low launch whereas the VF launches slightly higher.

Thats great info! Did the WB feel stiffer than the VF and TR or just totally different overall?

It's very stout much like the TR.  I can feel a slightly bend right under the handle with the VR whereas with the WB and TR black there is no bend.

Great - I’m loving the feel of the VF compared to the TR I had before. I’ll stick with this VF and see how the spin is and might throw the WB in for testing. Thank you!

Your mileage may vary but I’ve hit these recently. SS around 110-113….

TR black was a lot of work. One piece feel and tough to load. I prefer the original OG Ventus Black that I still own and won’t let go. One piece but not exhausting to swing.

AD VF and AD XC felt a little similar but might be in my head. Both felt a little one piece…maybe small load. Felt heavy in the mid-tip but lighter in the butt if that makes sense. Good shafts but didn’t produce best numbers for me. Still prefer AD-BB that’s sadly discontinued. That was a GOAT shaft with AD-DI.

Diamana WB may be my favorite with OG Ventus Black. Has a slight kick and smooth feel (it’s whiteboard after all). Almost TR Blue feel with lower flight.

Been using Ventus Black 6x then Ventus Black TR 6x for a while. I lovr the performance but I don't always load the shaft up.  I have a Diamana Wb 63tx coming in to try. I'll share my findings. Should be here tomorrow

Have you gotten a chance to hit the WB yet?

I’m significantly slower (driver rarely gets above 105 these days) but have tested the TR Black 6S, WB 63S and VF 6S.

My findings were basically exactly the same as @phizzy30, except for me there was some separation on launch and the WB launched the lowest — like a degree lower than TR Black. VF was highest of the three for sure.

Yes!! It's only one round.

I have WB 63tx, untipped.

I've been playing Ventus Black 6x, then VB 6x tipped 2 inches lol, then Tr Black 6x untipped.

For me the Wb feels a touch softer overall, I can feel it load but it doesn't kick. Impact feel is nice and "dense" feeling, although I'm sure the clubhead would play a role in that. For me it feels easier to swing than Vb or VbTr. Flight and spin seems to be right where I want it. Not sure if it's the Cobra ds ls, the diamana wb, or both but my flight is lower, and the ball wants to fly dead straight, barely any curve which I find very interesting. More time is needed to get a good picture of whats happening.

Overall I'd say the Diamana Wb is exactly what I was looking for. Ventus Black Tr performance with a touch more feel and ease of load. If anything I feel I launch this shaft lower than the Ventus Black, but again could be the clubhead too.

Excellent shaft!!!

Hope this helps!

Got a good deal on a used gd vf 6x tipped 1.25 coming in. I like the wb63tx but want to see how the vf does. I'm not in love with the wb, it's a great shaft but I feel like I have to change my swing to get the right load in the shaft. Hard for me to describe. I'll share my findings once I receive the shaft and get like 3 rounds under my belt with it.

Where does the 1k black fit in this comparison? In particular with the vf

Haven’t hit VF but from what I read about it, they’ll be wildly different.

1k black in X flex was boardy feeling, way more that TR Black 6x to me.

Everyone says VF has

much more feel or is “looser” than TR Black, so that would put 1k even further away feel wise

I have had all three and best I can describe in terms of feel is that WB feels like PX and VF feels like X100. VF is a little stiffer to flex and the 5X matches up better against WB 6X. TR Black felt similar to VF but stiffer in the handle and a tighter/stiffer mid bend.

VF has same feel as original Blue but with much better dispersion. I have mine tipped .5" but thinking of going another 1/4. For me VF is the best shaft I have ever played bar none but that is just me.

1K Black felt dead.  Just no feel to it whatsoever.  I've had the VF ever since it's release and it's the smoothest feeling low/low shaft, IMO.  Best way to describe it is a smoother feeling Ventus Black with a softer handle.

How’s the shaft testing? VF vs WB? Any new observations?

For me, I feel like flight wise they are similar with the wb being slightly lower maybe. Vf seems to spin slightly more. Feel wise I prefer the vf, it’s nice and stable but doesn’t feel overly boardy. The wb is not boardy it just has a really firm handle, and for my transition it feels too stiff. The tip in the wb is also more soft feeling through the hit which is also something that I don’t really care for. I still have both shafts but I’m actually using a velocore plus black which I like better than both, the handle section on the new black is definitely softer than OG or TR so it feels smoother to me and still has the nice spin and flight control. Hope this helps! I feel the vf and wb (6x vs 63tx) are close ball wise but pretty different feel wise.

any comparison to the WB and og Ventus black? feel wise?

For me I liked the feel of the OG black more than the wb. The wb isn’t harsh it’s just stout in the handle and mid (to me) the OG black still had some give in the midsection (not a kick). I guess just depends on what feel you’re after.

WB in TX feels more stout than X and a little more stable as well.  It's also about 8-10 CPM stiffer.  TR black is linear and very stout while retaining some feel.  Had the VF in TX and it feels like a tweener between the WB and TR black.

Has anyone also hit a hzrdus green tx compared to these? Currently have one in my mini and the ho in me wants to try and replace one with one of the three mentioned here.

HZDRUS green TX is closest to the TR black in launch/spin(low/low) and EI profile(very linear), but feels like rebar.  WB/VF feel smooth, have a very subtle kick and I saw a bit higher launch with both compared to TR black/HZDRUS green TX.  They also have different EI profiles compared to TR black/HZDRUS green TX.

Is there a major difference between the WB X and TX? WB 63x felt like a pool noodle compared to TR Black 6x and VF 6x. Fitter didn’t have the TX.

I play the 73TX WB in driver a bit shorter and it holds up really well, absolute bomber. Diamana X flex was always too soft for my taste

just curious after you mentioned WB playing softer X vs. X

Sorry, are you asking my opinion on making that switch? And if so, whats your speed and what do you prefer feel wise?

I've played the VF in X and in TX. I think the X was a bit too soft when going after it, didn't love the TX feel in it. The WB TX is really nice and i'm enjoying it - I am playing it straight-in though with no tipping, which I usually do. I don't need to with the TX. I swing around 118 on course usually
