think I'm done wasting my time with this lottery business.  I've been fortunate enough to go to practice rounds a few times.

 

I recently saw an article (can't find it now) how Wimbledon releases a small number of tickets for their show courts each day of the tournament that suggested Augusta do the same.   Bet the scalpers would get every last one of them if they did.   Would like to see Augusta crackdown on the scalping

I’ve attended dozens of events for a fraction of face value because of Stubhub. Or have been able to attend events I would have never been able to without a secondary market.  
 

Ya take the good with the bad. It all evens out in the end!

You never know honestly. A large number of people were pulled out of line this year and denied and tickets revoked. No one is really sure how it will change year to year, but they are for sure starting to crack down. I'd say you are safer giving them to family other than selling online, but it is for sure a risk. I've talked to a few people and know it has been tossed around requiring the winner of the tickets to be with the group. There is no telling when it will be enforced, but you will honestly never know until you get to the gate.

 

I went 2 years ago on my own tickets and will say the crowd has increased at least 4x over practice round days over the last 10-15 years. Demand was strong then, but they have to be releasing tons of more tickets or they wouldn't be paying MILLIONS for land to add more parking lots. You don't add more parking unless you are letting in more people.

Rejected again for 2026.  This is becoming pointless as I haven't been selected since 2003 (and I got rained out and never saw anything).  And I'm just trying for practice days.

I went to all three days of the practice rounds in the last two years before they went to the lottery back in the early 1990s.  You could just show up at the gate and buy tickets.  It was great.

 

I've applied for tickets in the lottery each year since and have never won.  0 for 30 something.  I suspect it's because they might have me on video urinating onto one of the azalea bushes in the woods to the right of the 10th hole's fairway.  Kind of near where Bubba hit his impossible shot.  Wait...that's a secret.  Don't tell them.  I mean, it was late in the day...the sun had set...I had had a few...we were heading back to the clubhouse after a long day of walking and watching...hardly anybody left on the course...I thought, what's the harm?  Plus how many people have ever gotten away with doing that on that course?  I figure that puts me in the second most exclusive Masters club (the winners' club being the most exclusive).

Just wondering if order selection makes any difference in the likelihood of getting picked. This year I selected four for each round and two for each practice day (the max).

I’ve been selected twice. Back in the days before the internet I just couldn’t make it that year and my daughter and I went in ‘16. No big deal to me if I go back, but the wife would like to see the place so I keep at it. 
 

And just a reminder - it’s no lottery - they pick who they want to come in some fashion.

something happened with their email reminders starting last year or two. I guess this has happened to quite a few people. I don’t get the email reminders anymore so I’ve missed even applying past two years but had applied for at least 10 years in a row and never got tickets. Checked my profile and nothing to fix. 
 

Haven’t done anything suspicious either, like creating multiple accounts. My sister signed up like 10 years ago as well to try getting tickets but nothing wrong with that.
