DG mid 115 x100 vs DG 120 x100

Anyone compare these? Haven’t heard much feedback on anyone using the dg mid 115 x in irons and wanted to compare the 2.

Obviously they're a bit lighter, but closest profile match for DG Mid 115 X to legacy iron shafts would be Project X. From hitting a few times, I'd put it somewhere between PX 6.0 and 6.5 for stiffness but the overall feel will be quite familiar to most PX devotees.

The full weight, TI DG Mid is a COMPLETELY different profile from the lighter ones; much more like Modus3 130 and KBS Tour V.

Great feedback appreciate the info. I currently play the tour issue dg 120 x100 in my irons and play the dg mid 115 x100 in my wedges and really love them feel of them. So was curious how they’d be in a full set of irons.

So DG mid is tip soft then gets stiff in the mid and handle?

I believe the 130 gr version is. ( never hit it but would like to)

 

the lighter version or more similar to px.  (I’ve hit the 115 x100 version and can vouch for this)

Yes, referring to the Tour Issue DG Mid. Almost feels like swinging a Medicus trainer if it’s a profile that doesn’t really suit you.

I’ve been trying to follow golfshaftreviews.info graphs for DG Mid 115 S300 and Project X 5.5

 

The stiffness range seems to be high on the DG Mid, it’s not listed for the PX. 
 

It looks like PX 5.5 has a firmer tip and I’m guessing shouldn’t be flighted. Does anyone know? I’m guessing they should play similar maybe lower balance point on the DG?

PX stiffness is listed in the comments of the PX review page.

Just see it so PX 5.5 is more comparable to DG Mid 115 X100 so

stiffer tip might suit me as I’m currently playing Modus 120, $ taper or KBS tour wasn’t stiff enough for me so I’m leaning towards PX 5.5 now

I see my driver shaft is only 17 stiffness rating (hzrdus black gen 4 60g 6.0)

 

ideally should I be targeting a stiffness rating of 17 also for the irons instead of going stronger?

I wouldn’t try to match stiffness ratings of iron shafts and driver shafts. The rating is just a helpful guide to start, similar to something like the Mizuno Optimizer, but it’s really best to do a fitting to see how they feel and how you react. PX 5.5 and DG Mid 115 X100 are a good example. On paper they look pretty similar, but they do feel different.

true testing is what I’ll need to do 

 

I always find the Mizuno kit always puts me into 120g shafts 

 

Nearly always $ Taper or standard PX 6.0 but the PX 6.0 feels like a board. My last time trying it was recently enough and it recommended Modus 115X. I reshafted a set but the 6/7 iron felt perfect, PW was very stout and the 4 iron was too soft

 

Looking at Russ’ page they are also flighted which is turning me off the DG Mid

Having started this thread a while back and now having spent ample time with the dg mid 115 x100, I have to say the project x comparison is wild to me. Dg mid feel super smooth not boardy at all tons of feel. I get the opposite feeling when I use a px shaft

Have you compared the 115 mid x100 to the px 5.5 or 5.0?  5.5 is the same weight but a littler stiffer.  5.0 is a littler light and a little softer relative to the 115 x100.

I would say the KBS tour feels smother. Could just be me. I will chime in with the weight tolerances though. They were all other the place when I weighed all of them at cut length. Most of them were over weight. I had a few over 120 grams and none of them were the same.

They weren’t very consistent on the weights even when I measured them at the raw length.

How long ago was this? This was a big problem with these when they first released. Haven’t heard of that recently. I have them in a t150 set and everything measured out fine

I got the S400 and everyone was 115 on the gram🤌🙂
