Quad to Quad Max - Worth the upgrade?

Foresight seems to be running a deal to upgrade the quad to quad max.  Has anyone upgraded and does the additional data and functionality make it worth the upgrade to you?

I can't speak to worth or value — if my net worth was $20B, I might have one QuadMAX in each of my many homes, and if my net worth was $20,000, I'd probably be thinking about the roof over my head or my next meal.

 

Having undergone a GCQuad -> QuadMAX upgrade… My comments are in red.

• Touchscreen Display: Nice to have, but ideally you're not touching it a lot. And the few times you do, it's not like the buttons were that much different.
• Speed Training: I honestly haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it's fine.
• MyTiles: For me, this alone was almost worth the upgrade cost. I set up three or four (one just on club data, one on ball data, one for distance wedges…) and I have a last one called "Lessons" that I'll quickly customize before or during a lesson to show the two to four data points I'm worried about in that lesson.
• Internal Session Capture: I don't care too much — I tend to look at data in the moment, not months or weeks or even hours later.
• Ball apex, descent angle, and ball offline from target. Really good to have these on device because I will use it without a computer or iPad pretty often.
• Larger Battery: Cool, but… haven't really noticed.
• Decreased Weight: Caddies appreciate it I'm sure.
• New Ergonomic Handle: Meh.

In other words, I find the MyTiles and the additional data to be winners for me. I'm glad I upgraded.

the only thing I see is the $5k for conversion they have been running since the max came out.   Is there a better deal?

You can write to your sales rep, but… that's the official price. It'll be gone about three weeks from the day you ship it.

Thanks for the reply.   I did reach out to the rep that I bought my "buddy deal" Quad from, but that was the only contact I had with him.     I asked if there were any better deals on a conversion, and so far radio silence.      I did ask before I bought the quad if those can be upgraded to max (considering they are referbs) and he said they could.

Yeah the upgrade is literally that they keep the cameras and a little of the base stuff (where the serial # sticker is) and put in a new battery, case, and top unit (where the LCD is).

If you're asking me… I don't think in my adult life I've ever really spoken to what is or isn't a "good value" for someone else. We all value things differently. For some, a $700 Scotty Cameron is a steal, for others, they're happy with a $99 putter from Walmart. For someone out there, a painting is worth $1M. Someone else might not pay $100 for it.

 

$3k < $5k. I can tell you that, definitively. 😄

fair, but the target for this discussion here is for people who already spent 15k+ GCQuad and contemplating justifying a 3k-5k upgrade, so I'd say anyone with an input on GCQuad to QuadMax upgrade is a similar demographic.

It’s still $5k or whatever. If I offered you an ice cream cone for $5k I doubt many would think it’s a good deal. The same applies here.
 

I’m an instructor, so I not only use my MAX quite a bit more, I might value something like MyTiles differently than someone else.

Well having started this thread I went ahead and upgraded and completely agree with iacas’s assessment. Thank you!  The my tiles feature is hands down the best feature for me.   I created presets for distance wedges, finesse wedges, start line, driver off the deck, irons etc. only selecting thr 3-4 parameters that I am monitoring for the shot.  Also, since I am a legally blind golfer that cannot see the ball flight the start line, offline and curve parameters are huge for me as they tell me exactly how the ball flies.   While I was able to get to the similar analysis with the quad, the Max is just far more customizable and simpler in the presentation based on my selections.   So glad I took the plunge.
