How did the WB react to getting tipped? Currently have the 73TX @ 45.5 untipped.

Struggled with missing it left and felt slightly loose at impact (I hit a baby cut as my stock shot so left is usually trouble). I started choking down slightly and that helped a lot, although I’m thinking tipping (.5 likely) will be my best go forward solution to shorten it a bit and tighten it up a bit. I do love the shaft and was fit into it so not trying to pursue other options at this time.

All the wiggle in this shaft is in the tip, mine responded really well to a 1” tip, I’m a fairly high swing speed player though so I like prefer shafts that are extra stable with a lot of compression feel. I am typically a baby draw player, on occasion this setup tends to fade a bit more than when untipped but that works for me. If you feel like choking down increased your consistency I’d personally suggest taking it off of the butt first once you start cutting into the tip the bend profile is gonna change on you quick

That’s good to hear. I’m 125 with driver and was fit into X7s in my irons so we are probably pretty similar speed wise.

What you are saying does make me think a half inch off the tip might work well as long as that doesn’t change it into a ventus black TR. I hit that in a 7x and could not square that up to save my life, snap hook city.

Why did you snap hook the ventus? Too stiff? Just curious!

I mean technically when choking down or taking off from the butt end of the shaft makes the shaft play softer. Maybe choking down helped you hit the center more so you were seeing the ball flight you wanted. If you are 125 with driver id recommend tipping it 1". I swing 130 and I got mine straight in and it does feel a little loose at the tip but I am seeing the flight I want so im not going to change it.

Yes. Was either a snap hook or over correct right, with inconsistent ballstriking. I have a unique delivery where I’m moderately steep into impact with a right to left swing path which can be problematic if the profile isn’t right especially with driver. My hands are pretty dead through impact so if it’s too much like rebar I can’t get square to target and it’s left going left. May not make sense but that’s what I was finding and what my fitter told me. The WB was center of the face almost everytime.

I’d be going to my fitter for this question (and I’m sure this would’ve already been resolved) but I didn’t buy through him to save a few hundred bucks 😂

I had same issue! Baseball causes my hands to be very active and when I go super stiff I have a tendency to get in to out swing path and almost squat too much and it causes me to get stuck. I went down in weight and its made a world of difference. This WB has been the best shaft ive ever hit for me personally! Just super stout with great feel!

It definitely stiffened it up, but it didn't change the ball flight as much as I hoped.  I still had a left miss with it and occasional balloon.

I’ve been playing a WB 63X. It’s smooth but plenty stable. I previously played a 1K pro white 60TX. The 1K felt more 1 piece. The WB feels like the handle is stiffer with just a little bit of action toward the tip.

Popping into this thread as an "official" tester - a friend gifted me his WB (63S) to test in my GT3 and looking forward to comparing to my gamer (Ventus TR Blue 60S)

Will provide some updates in this thread once I get some numbers!

I found those two shafts pretty similar, at least results and feel. Probably the only difference is you will feel the tip a touch more in the WB, and the butt in the TR. But it’s very subtle in my opinion.

While I wasn't a tester, I did just get a new driver and 3 wood with the 73x and 83x WB.  I am a fairly high swing speed player (a little on either side of 120) and usually gravitate toward pretty stiff shafts.  I have played Ventus TR Black 6x and 7x in driver/3W for the last several years, both tipped 1", and X7 in irons for years.  In my fitting, I was able to hit the WB 63tx tipped 1" and the 73x untipped.  I found that I had quite a bit more control and consistency with the 73x than the 63tx, so ended up going with that (and then just went with the 83x for the 3W on the assumption it would follow suit).  I did end up tipping both 1", as that is usually my preference.

I don't have much time in with the new sticks, but am finding that they both perform great, are very accurate, and feel very easy to move, but still a lot of face stability on mishits.  I usually get really hung up on the TX vs. X distinction.  I guess I am just a true GolfWrx-er, and my manhood (and thus golf performance) seems to be impacted at any time I am not swinging a shaft that has that little "T" next to the "X."  But I will say my initial impression is that these "regular" X seem to work and feel great.  Again, holds up to my swing just fine and a wonderful feel.  Definitely feels smoother than the Ventus TR Black, but has all the same stability.  Also feels better to me than the AD-VF (which I had for a bit in 6x tipped 1")...although that is a nice feeling shaft also.  Kind of a unique feel with the WB...I don't have another shaft I can point to that feels exactly like it.  "Smooth" is the best word I can think of, but again no lack of performance from the other big-boy shafts.

In this same fitting, I went with a similar approach on irons and downgraded my trusty X7 to $ Taper 130...saw a similar accuracy improvement out of those as well.  It's a big hit for my manhood, but hopefully an improvement to my golf scores. 😆

EDIT: I also did a fair amount of looking around online and had a pretty difficult time discerning any real difference between the 73x and TX.  Mitsubishi shows a 1 gram weight different, but same torque and butt diameter (usually where you see the most difference between the two flexes).  Russ Ryden shows them as nearly identical (slightly higher balance point in the TX, so I guess maybe that extra gram lives up the shaft somewhere.  Doubt they're identical, but they can't be far off either.

Been bouncing around the Ventus black line a bit and more so Accra Tz5 line

couple rounds with an old DF 70tx which has been awesome, just a bit heavy at 45.5”, in the GT2

in comes the WB 63tx , haven’t got a chance to hit it yet , but after reading this thread I’m excited .  Was on the fence for weight , 60 gram shafts are great on the range for me , but heavier helps my tempo on the course and the DF 70tx is a whole 13g heavier than the WB , 70tx is 80g uncut

I'm trying the 53TX, and usually play 60g shafts.  The Tour AD VF 6TX is a Trackman champion for me, but it does not translate on the course as well as the WB.

Looking forward to hearing your experience.

I’ve had this Wb 63tx for almost a year, untipped. Had it in a og cobra darkspeed LS then recently picked up a GT3 and didn’t want to break up my Cobra Adapt LS w/ velo+ black 7x. I remember not being in love with the WB but for some reason in the GT3 I’ve found I really time it well, it flies lower than the velo+ black (which is great for me) and the feel is way better than I remember. This GT3 Wb combo is by far the straightest setup I’ve ever played. Granted I’ve hit literally a couple thousand balls fixing my driver swing after having struggles during some recent competitions where driver, which is usually my biggest advantage, completely let me down.

I’ve had Og Ventus black 6x, tr Ventus black6x, tour ad vf 6x tipped 1.25, velo + 7x, and I think the WB definitely performs a little better for me. I think I wrote the shaft off because I didn’t care for the feel of the og cobra ds ls head. The WB is back and won’t be going anywhere.

Interestingly I am in a similar situation - I am finding my WB63X pairs up great with my GT3.  I liked the WB but didn't love it in my Ping LST or TSR3, but the WB/GT3 combo is very straight and consistent.  WB in the bag.

Also somewhat surprising for me is how fast this thing is.. been in a bay several times and is 1-2 faster ball speeds then just about anything I have tried

I havent gotten to test other stuff recently from a speed perspective. But I have tried a lot of shafts over the past 3-4 years and this one stands out the most for me in terms of flight, consistency and contact. I have tried ventus, most GD stuff, Project X, and for a long time I didnt want to hit Mitsubishi stuff cause it wasnt Ventus or GD. I seemed to always find myself hitting one better than anything else. The best shafts for me besides this one were Hzrdus RDX Blue PVD, Hzrdus Yellow Banana, Tensei 1k White.

I know this is golfwrx and no club is safe BUT, I think the revolving door of shafts and driver heads has come to an end for the foreseeable future. The Wb 63tx GT3 combo is extremely point and shoot for me. Maybe it’s the swing change not sure but this shaft feels fantastic and gives me such a great flight.
