Tour Vokey 60 degree wedge with K Star grind - 2024 the Memorial Tournament

I just ordered one. Played an m grind for better part of 10 years before a year with Cleveland. Curious to see how it compares!

If you were going to recreate this grind with Cleveland would you get?

 

60 low  bounce and sharpened or rounded leading edge?

I had a SM7 K with heal and trailing edge grinds.  It was awesome until turf got really firm, and wasn’t ideal for the high flops.  Soft turf/sand conditions it was fantastic.

I would probably play T grind more if it weren’t for how much the K* helps me in bunkers.

No issues there, I maybe feel a bit more confident with it than I would the T from further out. It has so much camber that it’s pretty safe!

Yeah kinda torn between homemade k* or t grind. Playing a v grind for last few years and went one with little less bounce but just as good on full shots

Also as a lefty, I ordered and fell in love with a K* variation several years ago (heel relief & trailing edge relief).  Assuming your homemade version is just regular low bounce K with heel relief and pre worn leading edge?  Do you feel like the leading edge really doesn't dig compared to T?  I wonder if the shape of the Wedgeworks offering differs from the regular "homemade" K head.

Idk I have the v grind. I’m wondering as well as you. The k* the other lefty said he basically did with the hand ground options sounds really good.

They are essentially the same. I’ve done my “at home” lefty K* to both the “low bounce K” when it was a wedgeworks offering and i’ve also done it to the SM10 60.06K once it got added. 
 

Definitely resists digging more than a T grind but it’s still 4-6* bounce and can be stuck in the turf!

Got it.  What I thought.  Thanks for the update.  Good looking piece.  Similar to what Rob Mac had in play at Open.

Last question, I've got several of the Wedgeworks LBK shapes.  Does the SM10 shape differ from those to your eye?

Are you using a bench grinder or a belt sander for this?  Great job!

I don’t think there are many differences between the former wedgeworks LBK and now SM10 60.06K. I’d say the differences are comparable (if not identical) to the changes when moving from SM9 to SM10.

I use my belt sander and 120-150grit. It’s taken some practice (and I still make ugly ones!) but being able to keep the wedge moving and not hold it in one spot does a lot of good towards make it more streamlined. I also have a ~120g sanding sponge that I use after the belts. I think Vokey raw is great because you don’t have to get down to a super fine/shiny polish to blend in
