Trackman4 vs full swing kit?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I currently have a indoor use trackman4. Can't use it out side, the cost is 3k to upgrade....... so my thoughts are to sell it and get a full swing kit..... my question is, has anyone used both and how do the numbers compare, I see trottie uses one but he's sponsored.  Any comparisons would be great.

Thanks again, Nick

I’ve never used either, but from all accounts the Full Swing kit is terrible indoors.  From your post it makes sense you use your TM indoors and want an outdoor option.

Unless you need the cash, why not sell the TM and buy a Quad?

I did think that, but I hate how quad does driver carry.   Always gives me 20+ yards extra

I've been strongly considering Full Swing and ditching my Garmin R10, I hate how sensitive it is to alignment. Keeping my eye out for used ones.

My buddy has a fullswing and after using it for a few hours I am pretty impressed with it. The software on trackman is better in my opinion, but you really have to utilize all the tools available on it. Considering I mainly only look at face/path, attack angle, and carry/ballspeed I found the fullswing to be a great option for much less than a trackman. I don't have any experience with it indoors however

FSK is a toy compared to a TM4. It simply does not have the software to compete with other products. The product appears rushed to market and IMO, is a money grab off of Tiger's endorsement.

If your goal is to develop a better swing, than the TM4 and its software is far superior. As a matter of fact, the Mevo + Pro Package and Face Impact (incredible value) is miles better than the FSK and cheaper. If you want to split the difference, get a Flightscope X3. The FS X3 can be had for 11K new or 8k used. It is every bit a TM4 equivalent, no subscriptions, and arguably some of the best software to analyze and improve your swing. Self leveling, larger radar array (than the Mevo+) for full flight tracking.

The only negative (for some) to FS products, is that the components that make up a Mevo Plus or a X3 are not bespoke. To me, it is the opposite - I am impressed with FlightScope engineers and what they have accomplished with off the shelf components and the software they have created for it.

I encourage anyone to do the research and comparisons; pick a launch monitor, search the FCC, read the technical filings and examine the internal photos.

I've compared my FSK directly against a Trackman and GCQuad. The numbers (both indoor and out) were within 1-2% of the TM and Quad. I've found my indoor results, which is mainly use with ProV1x RCT's, to be accurate to on course numbers.

Originally the engineers behind FSK admitted the product was rushed and then put firmware updates out on a fairly regular basis to improve the product. They are continuing to improve it, but the rate of which firmware updates have come recently have definitely slowed. If you look at any of the early review you'll see that it was definitely rushed, that much is true. However, compare a more recent review or look at the Golfwrx review and I think you'll find that the device is pretty darn accurate especially for the price point. The Mevo+ is a great unit as well, but I like the IOS features, usability, ease of setup, video of the FSK.

If I already had a TM4 and wanted to use it outside 3k is definitely the route I'd take to accomplish that goal or sell and get a Quad.

Compared my FSK with a GCQuad outdoors with just ball data this afternoon. Was close enough for what I need.

Spin: FSK were within 2-300 rpm 95% of the time - worst deviation I saw was about 550 rpm.

Launch angle: was within .3 degrees 95% of the time - worst deviation I saw was .5 degrees.

Ball Speed was pretty much spot on

Carry was within 2 yards of every shot I hit.

See below for reference. Neither of these shots were struck particularly well. Just the two pictures that I remembered to grab. Both are 7ir's (35* loft).

Kinda mulling on this myself. Looking for a LM for exclusively outdoor use on a grass range with an iPad. I'd like to have an app with a virtual range, skills challenges/combines and the option to "play" a few courses occasionally to keep practice interesting.

I already use Trackman indoors and am in their software ecosystem so I guess there's some extra convenience there, but doubt that's worth paying double what I can get a Flightscope X3 for? The self-leveling and ease of setup are, I think, worth stepping up from the Mevo+ for my use case. The Flightscope iOS software also seems to tick all my boxes, with 12 E6 courses included.

Had a GC2 for several years and never had any beef with Foresight, but feel like the fiducials might be a pain over time hitting on grass with a Quad. My range has a quiet members-only end and is deep enough that using a radar unit isn't going to be a logistical issue.

I'm in exact situation as you.  Only interested in outdoor practice.  Want something that is easy and fast to setup as I can use on course (country club...i play at non peak times) with my gamer ball.  Flightscope has good combine application...not as good as the upgraded trackman.  From what I can tell full swing...garmin...gc quad doesn't have any type of combine program.  I have mevo + and it's a pain to setup square to target.  Good deals on x3 on ebay.

If you decide to get a FS Kit (which for outdoors seems really good) go over to Shop Indoor Golf and buy the Sig 10 package for $5000 which includes the indoor enclosure and the FS Kit monitor.  Sell me the enclosure for $2500 and we'll both be happy and you'll be in a brand new LM for $2500!

Foresight doesn’t have this option however if you have an iPad or something I think you can do a distance randomized setting. I have a GC3 so familiar with the lack of a trackman combine.

I used a FSK outdoors for three months last summer, both on the range and on the course, and I have some thoughts.

The ball data is accurate compared to TM and GC3 with one major exception. You must select the club you're using, either in app or on device, to get accurate spin data. If you have the wrong club selected, spin can be wildly off. Even with the club selected, you can sometimes get spin misreads with driver (like double the spin). When using the app, selecting the club is fairly easy and you can customize what clubs are available in your bag. Selecting the club on device is annoying because all possible clubs are listed, not just the ones you have in the app.

So on the range, this all works pretty well and is fairly straightforward.  However, if you're trying to use the device on the course during play, it's difficult to keep a session running in the app for the entire round. Eventually the app or the device will forget it's got a session going, and you'll need to either restart the session, or sometimes reboot the device. It's fairly obvious that device only use is a bit of an afterthought and you're expected to use the app most of the time. But, it will give accurate ball data if you're mindful of these limitations.

I found the device to be a little annoying to setup, as well. Target selection is horrible if you're not using the app (it's okay in app, but not great), and I found the device to be sensitive to location behind the ball. That makes it hard to use even at the range because you're having to move the device back as you hit irons and take divots. If the device is too close or too far back, the ball data gets off.

Finally, club measurements were off by too much compared to a camera system (GC3 or GCQ). Club path, face to path, and AoA were often off by 2º or more. This was the dealbreaker for me and the main reason I did not buy a FSK.
