Mizuno stg 440

Miz adjustable hosel allows an upright setting.  I play a 9deg stg 440 with an aldlia rogue white60 or 70s or tense av white 65x. 

Been experimenting qith different shafts and weight positions.  Played yesterday with an extra 7 gram weight in draw position and hosel set for 1up  8.5degress. 

For some strange reason my anglenof attack became very steep and I was hitting very high in face or even on crown, week high left. My expectation about setting hosel in upright position would encourage a left bias but did not expect to be hitting it high on face, in fact I expected opposite.

Could just be my swing was off that day, but playing this morning I am going to move hosel back to std lie.  Make sure ball is far enough forward in my stance and see what happens. 

I am determined to give miz a fair chance to stay in bag.  I have been playing ping g430 lst and really am dialed in with it, but it is a little more difficult to control so I am hoping to get miz dialed in and see if it can supplant the ping.  At end of day, I just want the mizuno to work, but leash is short as I cannot afford to be uncomfortable on tee box.

I am currently hitting the STZ 220 and was thinking about the 230 or the x230 or the g 440. 
My most common miss is a hook, pull though, and I don’t want a draw bias to amplify that miss. 
Is the stg 440 neutral?

STG is very neutral in my opinion. Can easily hit it either way. 
 

that’s the problem for me, I have a hook miss with the driver so ended up being a no go for me. Mine is going to be in the classifieds soon because of it

Mizuno st-g 440 vs ping g430 lst

Well after a few months off I finally got to range the other day to do an exhaustive test.

I configured the mizuno stg440 in various setting and lofts and graded it against my current gamer ping g430 lst.

I used ping at 10deg in draw setting. 

I hit 10balls for each setting  and graded as follows:

Left 5 points

Middle 10 points

Right 5 points

Bad 0points. 

Then I tallied average score. 

I played miz in 9.5 and 10.5 deg with weights forward, back and draw setting.

Best miz score was neutral 10.5 deg with both weights forward or back. At 7.0

The ping g430 at 9deg scored 6.0  and the ping at 10deg scored a solid 8.0.

 

The ping felt hotter and defintely longer, but good hits on either where equally good. The mizuno is a good driver, but it's not better then the ping. 

The ping gave me more distance and was just as forgiving as mizuno. The mizunonis a good choice, it's feels and sounds really good. I cannot play it in draw setting as it just goes way too left. Neutral worked best for me. Test was not exactly fair as the ping had a tense av white with boron tip 70s, thw miz had the aldila white 60s. I would buy muzuno if I needed a new driver it's essentially half thw price of the ping. I plan to keep it because the after market for it is so weak. Probable give it to my 14year old son to replace his really old ping g driver.
