Just got back from 5 rounds in 4 days and threw the KM-700s in the bag for the first time.

Gold Mountain - Cascade

McCormick Woods

Gold Mountain - Olympic (2x)

Trophy Lake

Played really well and the irons felt great. Compared to the T100s, I had a few observations.

1. Length is basically the same. I didn’t see any difference in distance even on mishits. I’ve played blades before and surprisingly never had any of the long rockets or short hits - everything was right where it should be over each round. I would actually say my mishits were more forgiving than the T100. In the colder, damper Puget Sound mornings I did need to club up a few times.

2. Dispersion. I hit some of my most memorable iron shots on this trip, and actually had a few per round. The wind picked up each day so the more direct ball flight helped quite a bit - especially when clubbing up with a 3/4 swing.

3. Feel. It really didn’t take long to get used to these and feel comfortable then confident over all types of shots. I tend to play my low or high fade throughout the course and could easily draw one whenever needed. When you pure one, it definitely gives that butter feel as though you didn’t hit anything even with a decent divot. They cut through the thick stuff and helped on a number of par saving shots from less than pleasant areas I found myself in.

I’m absolutely sticking with them. My GIR went up, scores went down, and damn they’re pretty amazing to play with.

T100/620mb here and the KM’s are on my list.  Looking down on the KM’s how do they compare to T100 from the top?  Notice any differences in spin and/or peak height between the two?

I’ll take photos to compare between the two.

7i #s with about 92mph SS, -4 AoA

Both sets are standard length, standard lie in my case. The #s are pretty close:

T100 with AMT White S300

7 Iron Loft - 34*

Carry- 177

Launch- 18*

Spin- 7250-7500

Apex- 95-100’

Landing-42-46*

KM-700 with Oban 115S

7 Iron Loft - 33*

Carry- 180

Launch- 16*

Spin- 7350-7500

Apex- 95-100’

Landing- 45-49*

Is there a standout from a performance perspective? Thx

Honestly they are each pretty different. The swing weight, feel, and sweet spot are different for each set so it depends on how you define performance.

I’m gaming the KM700s as they give me the most consistency and confidence but recently took the T100s out for a few rounds and shot about the same. Despite the different lofts, I hit each about the same distance and all are easily workable.

KMs = Orban 115 Stiff (D3)

BB/T100 = AMT S300 (D3)

MB = AMT S400 (D4)

The Baby Blades and MBs are insanely good. Puring one is a serious experience but I need to work on my contact consistency before playing them more.

Quick update: Ordered a set of MCA MMT 125S. Will be installing as soon as they arrive.

The Oban 115s feel too light and I'm getting a little inconsistent having to swing a little softer than I normally like.

Congrats. Beautiful irons. About six months ago I also switched from T100 (2019) to Miuras. Went with TC201 but was really close on KM700 - I love a boxier shape at address and the KM's might be the best looking iron at address to my eye. How do you find the KM's - do they play like blades?

Brief update.

After trying the MMT 125S shafts over a few rounds they just weren’t the right fit. Though the swing weight was fine, the total club weight was too much.

Recently swapped to the MMT 105X and have been much happier. Clubs feel great again, even better than the original Obans they came with.

Realized I never replied to this. I might be in the minority but I don’t think the KM-700s play like blades really as they’re far more forgiving. You do get a small amount of mishit feedback but the design magic they came up with as a single piece has moved the CoG making for a pretty big sweet spot and forgiveness on mishits. I don’t toe one very often but similar to other blades these beg to be hit near the heel. The heads are very heavy, I have each written down somewhere, so the choice of shafts are very important for feel.

I do think they are very similar to the T100s, my other i59s, and probably others - or at least they feel very similar to me despite very different construction. I tinker a lot.

I prefer them as a “more forgiving” single forged head which I guess is blade-type and do like the larger head and sole personally. At address they do look like blades as shown in the photos above.

In comparison, I have to concentrate and be swinging well to get the same level of consistency out of the MB101s and even more so with the Baby Blades.

For me, Miuras view and top line at address & head shape perfectly fit my eye. I just think they phenomenal and that might be reason enough for me to dump everything else I’ve stocked up on.

With my recent change to MMT 105x in the KMs, I’ve also regained any yards I lost and tightened dispersion making these arguably the best irons I’ve ever hit.

YMMV

Awesome top picture you posted. I think the 1957 and Kms look the best. Almost zero offset. I have the 1957's. Miura blades are A1.

The 1957s are just amazing. I've since sold them as I never really gamed them, might regret later

Is it safe to assume the KM700’s launch a little lower than the T100’s?

Stock the KM700s come with traditional lofts and with my shaft lean/AoA I was getting almost the same #s between the T100s and KMs - albeit they perform very similar but feel very different

I've also reshafted the KMs now 4-5 times:

Stock: Oban CT-115S (no feel)

AMT White X100 (decent)

Project X LX 6.0 (too high SW)

MMT-125S (overall too heavy)

MMT-105TX (fade bias)

Current: MMT-105S (just right, for now)

The current 105S seems to be the closest I've been able to find to what I've been looking for. The feel is phenomenal. SW are up (D5) but with the heavier heads the overall weight and kick point seems to really fit my swing well. Will keep testing

I am contemplating trying out some graphite in my KM700 or CB302.  I typically play Modus 120X or 125x.  Any of the graphite you have tested compare well with these shafts?

These ones?

I think the biggest thing is matching the heavier head weights of the Miura's to the equivalent graphite profile/flex/weight. I don't believe it is a 1:1 ratio to switch from steel to graphite, at least not in my personal testing.

I incorrectly thought that going straight into the MMT 125S would be the correct profile coming from DG X100 in other sets. The total club weight was significant, noticeable, and more than I could handle. I hated it.

The 105TX (115g) worked but were still on the slightly heavier side.

Now that I'm in the 105S, which genuinely is 20g per club lighter as built, I'm much much happier.

Here are my KM-700 head weights:

4i - 250.7g

5i - 257.2g

6i - 264.1g

7i - 270.9g

8i - 278.6g

9i - 286.5g

Pw - 293.8g

Mizuno 925 for comparison:

5i - 249.2g

6i - 256g

7i - 264.9g

8i - 270g

9i - 277.7g

Yes, those.

That is helpful.  I just got my KM700 but I am messing with swingweights now.  Trying to get a baseline first.  My CB302 is progressive swingweights from D4-D8 with a Modus 125TX shaft so they definitely have some heft to them.  If I get lazy and don't focus on my turn its very easy to miss right.  So far in my brief testing the KM700 is easier to manage but I am going to play with it some.

When I build my sets, I can get pretty obsessive about measurements/weight/etc.

It may not make sense but somehow the 105S is working the best out of any of the other attempts for me. My T150s are stock PX 6.0 LZ (120g) at around D2. The KMs are SW close to my old blades and feel great in this configuration.

Amazing I just found this thread looking for this exact discussion.

I’m about to reshaft my KMs and am looking for some advice.

I had the chance to play 2.5 rounds with brand new T100s last week - stock set up with s300 dynamic gold shafts. I have to say I absolutely loved them. My best iron play for in two years. Just the swing weight and how pure they felt. “The club was doing all the work”…

I stopped playing my KMs half way through last year. I honestly have no idea how I wound up with LA Golf 80s on them. Had to have been a bad day when I was fit for them. Just way too light. Can’t feel them and no power in them.

All that to say - I’m thinking of trying basic s300 dynamic golds on the KMs. Any thoughts or input? (Beyond go in and get fit properly…witch is what I will do)
