Titleist GT Driver - anyone fit into it?

Currently using 10* TSR3 with Tour AD-IZ shaft. I have a low ball flight (7* launch angle) with about 225yd carry. Was fitted with the new GT3 10* and same shaft. Noticeable difference in launch, gained about 3* which came out to about extra 10yd of carry.

The new head feels powerful and more stable. I had no intention to switch this season as I typically keep my clubs for 5+ years, but couldn't resist due to the better dispersion and longer carry

I described the GTs as feeling solid, but yes, they are very stable

I was fit into a TSR4 driver with a stiff shaft, and TSR2 fairways with ultralight regular shafts. The driver was ok on exact center contact, but very unforgiving on off center contact. When I traded it in, at a busy shop, they said that they had never fit anyone in that club. When getting fit for the fairways, the fitter kept saying that I need to hit the ball higher so they land softly on the green

Sorry to hear that, but the good news is Titleist has a ton of fitters.  If you decide to go back, talk to the greeter when you check in and explain what happened last time.  I have no doubts he'll make your experience a good one.

The GT series is without a doubt not a step back or sideways.  In my opinion. Titleist is moving in the right direction with this one.

I have a fitting next week.

I have spoken with 3 different professionals (not tour players) who had early access to the GT series.  All 3 of them independently said that the GT series had better dispersion and less increase in spin in off-center strikes.  Center strikes may or may not be any different, depending on how well you hit your current driver.

The TSR2 has been the best driver overall, I have ever owned.  I will be surprised if the GT beats it out of the bag.

After 27 holes and 1 practice session with mine, I'm seeing EXACTLY what your Pros told you.

Good to know.  If I can hit it off the heel and keep the spin under 3000 rpm's with better dispersion, then this would be a winner for me, regardless of whether there is any improvement in well struck shots.

I think that's very doable, from what I've seen. Actually today my very first hole was a bit of a low heel hit and I immediately dropped my head thinking, aw s***.   Then when riding to the ball I was shocked as we got closer as it was pretty much right about where most of my TSR1 drives used to end up on that hole, and about 10 yards short of my playing partner who hit his drive very solid.

Buddie of mine is a Titleist fitter.  I hit the 2 and 3 a couple weeks ago.  A fine driver no doubt, actually had a cut out of one of them and showed me what's going on inside.  Also the top a little a way from the face is now some type of polymer.  So light and actually sounds like a piece of metal when hittting it on some metal.  As far as performance. if you are fit properly into the TSr, doubt your going to see any significant gains.  Price unfortunately is going to be  $649.99 with one of the stock shafts.

650 without any carbon is ridiculous.

Also agree. Not sure why Titleist hasn't ventured in the carbon driver market yet. Also, I remember when japanese drivers were all pushing 1k and seem ridiculous. The current pricing brings a lot a Japanese brands into play if someone is considering that price point.

This 100%. I think they'd have something with carbon if there were gains to be made AND there was a reliable, cost effective way to produce these en masse.

I personally love that it's solid construction without glued carbon. This forum is littered with stories about carbon faces and crowns popping off or cracking at the seams. I was at the range last Wed and the guy next to me had his Cobra Aerojet's carbon crown break off. It was <4 mos. old.

The current wave of driver design really is about minimizing the delta on off center hits. The aim is keeping speed and spin in a tight window, regardless of where you hit it on the face. Center strikes are going to be comparable between drivers (say TSR vs GT vs. XXX), but keeping those launch numbers the same on a low heel or high strike or low toe strike is the going to raise the overall average distance of the driver by keeping those off center hits in a tighter circle.

Fit into the GT2 this week. I currently have a TSR2 and it beat it head to head. I also fit into the new VF shaft, love it. I saw about 13 yards increase, better spin, 3mph ball speed, and more importantly MUCH better dispersion. The fairway woods are also way better. The GT2 3 wood completely demolished the TSR2 3 wood. Wasn’t even close. Looking forward to receiving them and playing them when they come in, in about 3-4 weeks.

I've played TSR3 9° for the last 2 years with OG Ventus Blue. TSi3 9° for the 2 years prior. Moved to new Ventus Blue+ back in April.

Fitter had me try all three heads in the new HZRDUS shaft and same story as the TSR for me--GT2 spun too much, GT4 performed best on center hits, and GT3 was the right one.

Went to shafts and he was trying to put me in the AD-DI, which isn't totally off-base, but in my previous experience with that shaft, it'd feel a little loose at times. He seemed satisfied with the numbers, but I didn't love the flight. The new Ventus was a little harder for me to tame at first, but about the last month has been really great for me, so I wanted to see how it'd do with the GT3. First swing, I looked back at him and his face said what I'd felt. It felt phenomenal and looked like the strongest ball flight of the day. Numbers yielded my best ball speed by 5mph and 7yds carry. Followed it up with two more with very similar numbers and flight and we were both sold. He made some slight adjustments throughout the fitting that could be attributed to the extra speed and distance (8° head with 4g extra weight in the slot track), but that hadn't worked either before moving to my Ventus. So made the move on the driver, because I could see the numbers and I much prefer the sound of the GT series.

Fairway woods? No real performance difference for me from TSR to GT and I honestly prefer the sound and feel of the TSR, which was kind of a bummer because who doesn't want all the fun new shiny stuff, but at the same time, I'll take the cash savings. They weren't bad by any means, but the fitter was just honest and said the numbers were similar and after I told him about the sound thoughts, he suggested sticking with what I had. I know fitters get a bad rep sometimes because it seems like they're just trying to push product, but I appreciated the honesty anyway.

Just fortunate I got the opportunity to get the fitting and looking forward to getting it in.

I currently game the TSR3 with the Ventus TR6X black.  They switched the head out to the GT3 and i immediately was pulling everything left. I couldnt hit that head.  They switched out to the GT2 and was in love. I picked up 5mph and was averaging 330 carry and 365 total.  The best part about the GT2 was the forgiveness...

The club will be delivered on Monday.  I cant wait.

glad you got a good driver.

Was it left due to too low spin or bad pulls for whatever reason by yourself?

The GT3 is a lighter head than the TSR3. I loved the look of it and it felt awesome at address. It just was too light and too low spin.  Granted I had a couple of errant swings that added to the issue but 5 swings in and I told them I preferred my TSR3.

The head fitter stopped fitting a pro next to me and asked to see the setup. He made a few tweaks and I couldn’t miss. I fully thought he moved weights around in the GT3 but he switched the head to the GT2 and added some lot from the 8* head.

whatever they did works and they are the real deal!

Interesting, I need heavy heads; irons are heavy(typical artisan) I have heavier weights in my TSR3. I struggle with some heads for spin being too low too.

I am leaning GT2 8* or GT3 9*; my current driver is TSR3 9* at D1 setting. Not doing a fitting so hoping I don't make a big mistake!

That is exactly what i like.  My TSR3 8* has the heavier weight in it and i went B1 on the Setting of the GT2 8*

I recently got fitted for a driver at Titleist Performance Center in Oceanside, CA. My final choice was GT3. Amazing experience and the staff over there is amazing! My Driver average went up from 214 to 240! My fitter Joey had me focus on improving my attack angle which went from -3.9 to -0.3. Spen rate went from 3100 to 2403. My swing speed changed from 87 to 90. Really enjoyed all the variations he had me test from different shafts, heads and settings. Joey encouraged me to try and turn a bit more more which helped with speed. Still shocked by these results. My overall assessment is these results were a combination of a excellent fitter that not only helped with equipment but also helped me to hone in on areas I could tweak to optimize my results. Loved the feel of the head, the sound and obviously the yardage gains. Ordered the club and hope to have it delivered in August.

I came in with my TSi3 with the DI6 X that I've played well for years, and moved into the GT2 10* - fit with the Ventus Blue 6X. I tried a whole bunch of shafts and this one fit the best for sure - absolutely loved it. Didn't pull the trigger on the Ventus because they were still charging full retail for the 2019 version, and will get the new 2024.
