Everyone delivers the club to the ball a little differently. Strike location, and spin loft (the difference between Angle of Attack and Dynamic Loft) are biggest contributors to backspin numbers.

GT4 looks great but didn't spend much time with it. 

Really helpful, thank you. What loft and setting were in you with TSR, what did you go with in GT, and did you stick with the same shaft?

No problem.  TSR3 9.0 set to A1 with the weight positioned 1 slot towards the toe. GT 9.0 set at B1 with and centered on the weight slider. 

 

I have a Ventus Blue TR 6X and a Diamana WB 63TX. The Whiteboard is stiffer, so it doesn't "feel" near as good, but it's a profile I'm really familiar with and the dispersion is tighter than the Blue TR.

It did for me, might not for you though. It was pretty low for me, everywhere from 1500-1800. GT3 had me at 2400ish. I'm sure there's a shaft out there that could make the 2 work for me, was just hard to keep searching when the 3 immediately gave so much better results.

So I have a G430 Max 10K and got on a monitor the other day and took about a dozen or so swings with my gamer and the GT 2 & 3.  Mine you the 10K has been a very good driver for me this year.  Had the Max last year ( which served me very well ) and switched over to the 10K, and it's been just a little better.  My shaft is a VA Nemesys 55.  I swung both heads in a 9* and 10* with the Tensei 1K blue 55S.  The Ping is still supreme in the forgiveness department.  Swing speed with the Ping was generally 2 sometimes 3 to 4 mph. slower, but it's that way with almost any other driver I swing.  Both GT's had a little longer ball in, but just a little more dispersion.  Certainly very playable.  I'm generally pretty consistent with my strike patterns with my miss a little toe side.  For reference, my swing speed with the Ping averaged around 93.5 and the Titleist's  just shy of 96.  Smash with Ping was 1.48 and 1.47 with Titleist.  IMO, probably not worth it to make the switch, but knowing me, I have that itch for the latest and greatest.  One last remark is that I love the sound and feel of the GT's.  Ping does sound kind of loud when swapping back and forth.

Never should have wandered away from TSR2. 7 HC, 101-103 CHS, mid flight mid spin kind of guy. Would love to hear your experiences hitting the GT4 with the weights flipped if your fitter has you try it! I'll be doing a GT fitting some time in the next few weeks and wondering if that could be a good combo.

Drove 40 mins, trunk slammed and into the bay. I will definitely be faster out on green grass. GT2 playing at 45” was the winner in 4th gen smoke black shaft.

Very happy I didn’t pull the trigger on GT3 blindly. It looks absolutely incredible and I gained probably 3-5 yards over GT2 when middled but in the aggregate the 2 was the easy choice. Unfortunately didn’t hit the 4, just felt it would have been a waste of time to be honest. 
 

I initially wanted to go GT3 due to the head profile at address but the changes they made to GT2 visually (not as “stretched out” looking) won me over. Very excited. As the fitter said when he handed me my receipt “go forth, with fewer excuses”.

Now that I’m home, I wanted to add to this. The numbers listed here were my best swing. Overall, I was closer on average to around 2600 spin. 
 

Overall: I hit a few heely balls that usually really accentuate the 7-12 yard cut ball I play. I looked up to see slightly lower spin than out of the middle which of course was a welcome sight. My impact heat map was all out of the middle or slightly heel, which is always my miss and why we elected to bump down to 45”. Unfortunately for everyone that misses out on the toe, I’ve got no valuable feedback for you. 

 

I went into the fitting not expecting large speed gains or a magic wand and was most interested in seeing if the spin consistency across the face and front to back/left to right dispersion actually contracted because of it.

Also notes, the GT4 has 11 and 3 grams.  I’m ordering 9 and 5 weights from Billy’s for GT. They said it’s coming in a few weeks.  My hope is a softer conversion to the complete flip of stock weights.

Can you directly compare the tsr2 to the ai smoke max? I currently play the smoke max and like it but I’m curious about the tsr2. Thanks
