Too hot to fish.

Too hot for golf.

And too cold at home.

No idea.  Maybe take up watercolor painting.

Yeah, a bit of a letdown after this last "major" of the season.  I'll probably still watch some of the remaining events on the Champions Tour, keep on playing each week on our local courses, and hang on for the Tour Championship.  After that, going into the fall, work will ramping up, which means my time for golf will be less and less.  I'll keep playing some in the fall/winter, walking 9 every once in a while, hitting some range balls to stay in the groove, and watch some Golf Channel every now and then between football games.

I'll probably also explore upgrading my irons!!!!

I wish the PGA would go back to August.  I'm plenty long off the tee "for my age".  I need to work on hitting more fairways lol.

Same here, the PGA belongs in mid/late August ! I'm still not used to this new-fangled schedule

I got this same question from friends when I retired early.  Whadda ya gonna do with all your time?  And I’ll tell you the same thing I told them, as I’m not sure if you’re aware, but there is an awful lot of porn on the Internet.

On a serious note, by compressing the Majors, the PGA Tour is hoping to get people to start paying more attention to the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Yeah, I know why they did it and to some extent I get it.  If feels unfinished though to have the Majors end in July.  Some of those PGAs in August were really fun and exciting tourneys, "Glory's last shot" as they said LOL

Fans of golf need to embrace the whole PGAT season. Stop saying this nonsense of only watching the Majors. Plenty of good golf left......

IMO

The tv ratings and internet traffic says otherwise. Almost no one aside from the pgat players care about the Fedex.

I guess now I don't have to worry about dividing my outdoor time with pgat viewing time. Pro golf is over for the year.

The Tour Championship was a huge hit last year, with the best ratings since Tiger won it and a sold out crowd at the course.  It had better ratings than any non-Major.  The fans don’t care?

In a memo distributed Tuesday, CBS Sports announced that its final round coverage of the 2023 Tour Championship averaged 4.613 million viewers. It scored the most-watched telecast of this event since 2018.

I'm not even sure the PGA Tour players care all that much about it, except the pay out.  Ask any Fed Ex cup winner if they'd trade it for a major, I'd bet good money that 100% of them would.

Most of the fedex cup winners won it when Major winners got 1.4-2 million dollars.

So i don't think they trade 18 million dollars for 1.4-2. So i doubt that claim you make

Of course they would, at least for three of the four, but how does that make them not care about the Tour Championship?  Does that mean they don’t care about any of the non-Major tournaments?  (Sure you’re not thinking of LIV?)

The Tour Championship has arguably the best field in golf, it’s the culmination of an entire year of work, and the payout for winning is huge.  To think the PGA Tour players don’t care about it is nonsense.  If they don’t care about it, how come they all mention the benefit of FedEx points all year when they play well in a tournament?

Cracks me up that, on one hand everybody says Tour players have become greedy SOBs and on the other hand the same people say they don’t care about a $15 million winner’s check.

LOL! .....Of course, you're correct. 2023 as a whole was one of the best viewing seasons in recent memory. I find it hard to even respond to posters saying that no one is watching the FedEx Cup Playoffs when all Pro playing status depends on it.

The lucrative FedEx Cup playoffs will be here as long as FedEx has an advertising budget. The PGAT will tweak it as necessary.

Total nonsense. At the beginning of every year the goal of every PGAT player is to get to Eastlake. If you get to Eastlake, you're in every big tournament for the following year....

Including the Tournament of Champions.

Despite being up, if you look over a several year period that's still light compared to the majors.

Also if you were to judge fan interest as correlated to the number of tournament pages on the wrx forums it gets even more telling. All Fedex playoff tournament threads combined had less pages than any one of the majors in 2022 (the last time I mined the data).

A major win is worth more in both career reputation and potential future earning than whatever the Fed Ex cup pay out is.

I didn't say they don't care about the Tour Championship or making it to EastLake.  I'm sure they do care about that actually because it means they have played well consistently throughout the year and maybe had a shot at winning a major.

I'm saying I doubt many tour players go into the year with winning the FedEx Cup as a goal.  Its win a major, win a tourney, make the Ryder Cup etc.

I'll watch some golf from here on but I agree the Majors are done too quickly.

Too hot lately here in Nova Scotia to play golf for me, I've been doing other hobbies more. It'll cool down a bit in late Aug. Sept and Oct are my favorite months to play golf here.
