Ventus TR Blue vs Black/Comparable Shafts Spin Difference

Hello,

 

Today, I went to the sim at our club and was trying to see what my driver numbers were. I was launching it around 14-15 degrees with about 2,700 rpm of spin on 119 - 123 MPH swing speed. I use the Stealth Plus set to 8.75 degrees with a Ventus TR Blue 6X. If I switch out shafts to the Ventus Black, what kind of spin reduction might I see? I feel like I'm leaving some yards out there. Or, are there comparable low spin shafts that anyone recommends?

Those numbers aren't bad with the TR Blue. Launch angle may come down some with the Black.

Depends on your delivery. You may actually spin the TR Black more. Rather than going down the shaft rabbit hole, If you like your current dispersion maybe take a bit more loft off the driver. You’ve got plenty of launch. Lowering the loft down more should give you a bit more speed, and reduce your spin by a few hundred rpm’s. At your ball speed, if you can get your launch around 13 and spin around 2300 you would be pretty much optimal.

Unfortunately it’s going to be something you’ll have to try to know for sure. Shafts don’t launch or spin. The dynamics of shafts can change your delivery based on your feels and how your body reacts to those feels/shaft dynamics. 
 

in a vacuum, the black will deflect less creating lower launch/spin due to less dynamic loft. However, if your delivery changes because of what you’re feeling, the opposite effect could happen…or anything in between for that matter. 
 

All that said, for me TR blue 6x vs TR Black 6x was about 1-1.5 degrees less launch and 300ish less RPM’s. More importantly though, it completely eliminated the left side of the course which was more important than the better launch numbers.

I’ll try lofting my driver down. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try the TR Black. Thanks for the reply!

A little late coming back but I lofted my driver down to 7° and still having same spin. I’ll try getting on a different simulator before looking at a new shaft just to confirm my attack angle.

This is WRX, you always need more equipment. Get the other shaft and conduct your own little shootout. Both are popular shafts, either one will be easy to flip.
