Need help with a BST please

Hello all. I recently bought a club from a seller here and paid via PayPal. I do believe the club was shipped; however, I think the club was lost in the USPS. 

The last 2 updates via USPS are:

• July 20, 2024, 1:20 am
  • RICHMOND VA DISTRIBUTION CENTER 
  • Arrived at USPS Regional Origin Facility
• July 24, 2024
  • In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late

 

There has been no real update since 07/20. I have PM'd the seller a couple of times about a few other things they had for sale that I may have been interested in and got no response. I then PM'd the seller on Friday, 07/26, that I had concerns the club was lost. Now, the seller has not been on the site since 07/23, but how long should I wait until I file a claim with PayPal, assuming I do not hear anything from the seller soon?

File now because it takes a while. If it shows up, cancel the paypal claim or pay back for the item.

The "in transit arriving late" is all too common with USPS these days.

 

FWIW I've gotten that update on a number of things over the years (golf and non-golf related), but they have all eventually been delivered. That's just my experience though.

I am worried that it has been well over a week since a real update. The last time I had this type of update, it was lost. I will give it until tomorrow and if I haven't heard from the seller, I will start the claim process.

I would call the update from the 24th a “real” update.   That said it is pushing a week with nothing but you also had a weekend in there.  I would agree with the recommendation from @cardia10 ….file the claim and if it arrives cancel the claim or pay back the money.

Had a similar experience with clubs shipped to me earlier this year.

Expected delivery, 3 days, USPS Ground.

No tracking update for 14 days.

Seller checked with the postmaster, they should have been on a plane,  a week before he checked on them.

No tracking updates until the day it was out for delivery to me.

20 days late.

USPS tracking is inconsistent and frequently unreliable.

Hope your delivery doesn't take as long as mine did.

I would do this before filing PP.  Had the exact same thing two weeks ago and the day after filing the missing package form it was found and updated status online with arrival 2 days later.

I have a package that was shipped on 7-19 from IL to Wi (only 1 state away) and there have been no updates since the "USPS in possession of item" scan the day it was dropped off.  Why anyone would ship anything but an envelope with USPS these days is beyond me.  USPS is a joke!

Thank you to everyone who replied. I started a Paypal claim, and I PM'd the seller to let them know I have done this. I also asked them to start the lost package search: https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm as suggested here.

I think you jumped the gun on this one.  What do you expect PayPal or the seller to do at this point?  The seller probably should start a lost package inquiry.

 

I'm guessing shipping was USPS Ground.  Tracking / shipping situations you are experiencing do happen with USPS and a 30 day wait may be the window.

 

Sellers and buyers should specify shipping specifics as a condition of sale, IMO.  Not saying this was your case, but if a buyer expects bottom line price, they should expect bottom line shipping.

Thank you for your reply. I paid 2 weeks ago. I have PM'd the seller multiple times and no response. This is the ONLY reason I started a claim. I am certain the seller is a good guy and this is not his fault, but I have not received any response from the seller. I was at a loss as to what to do next. 

 

NOTE: I paid more than the asking price to help cover Paypal fees so I feel I have been more than fair in this exchange

I think you did the right thing since the seller has not responded to you. It's up to the seller to check on the package.

 

I had two packages back in February 

• In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late

I never received either one and neither seller was very helpful. My question to both sellers was "at what point do I give up on a package and request a refund?" I filed with PP and let them decide the cases. I was refunded after going through the process.

In my situation, I was also the buyer but submitted the lost package request.  It was an online form and didn’t have any problem as I had tracking number and addresses.

The Fli Hi just arrived at my house this morning. I never did hear anything from the seller. I hope everything is ok on his end. I closed out the Paypal claim stating I received the club. Thank you to everyone who replied.

Did the tracking ever update from "In transit, arriving late" prior to being delivered, or did it just show up at your house out of the blue?

 

I'm currently dealing with a similar situation from a purchase here.

It just showed up one day. I checked USPS that morning and a few hours later it was on my front porch. The tracking site literally went from ""In transit, arriving late" to "delivered" or whatever they use.

Good to know. Mine is coming up on 14 days since it left the post office. Hopefully it arrives soon.

these days if a seller says they are shipping USPS i will volunteer to give them a UPS shipping label. 

 

several USPS packages have been like this for me. realistically theres not much the seller can do once they drop off, but frustrating nonetheless.

Currently sitting on two weeks with no update after acceptance on an eBay purchase. Opened a case with CS and they put it on hold until 9/7 since there’s a tracking number.

Just had this same issue with a set of irons on here. 8 days of no updates from USPS then randomly said out for delivery, and they showed up. Shipping took 11 days total. USPS is struggling.

Richmond VA and Atlanta GA.  If your  package goes through those “ dead zones” you’ll see this often. I’m in SC. So I watch trackigng through those hubs like a hawk. Both for golf clubs and my business. It’s a volume issue. It’s not lost. It’s sitting in a stack  of unworked  boxes.    Hit the find my package and wait.  It’s not the sellers fault.  Filing a pp claim before you know it’s lost is wrong in my opinion.  When he did nothing wrong.

Yep. Seen that a million times.  I never worry unless it’s never shown movement.  And if I need it fast. I ship ups or FedEx 2nd day.  
 

I tracked a package once. ( Tour 3 wood head ) from Texas. To Georgia…. Stopped there for 7 days. No updates.  2 hours from my front door. Next morning after the 7th day. It updated as scanned in Wyoming.  Comes up through Michigan.  Over to Virginia and down to me via Charlotte Nc. Goes down 2 hours to Columbia sc.  then up an hour and a half to my post office.  Literally only way to be less efficient is if they sent it to Hawaii in a boat first.   But it arrived. Safe and sound.

I do not disagree; however, I could not perform the Find My Package option as I did not have all of the info. I was very clear in my posting—I found no fault with anything the seller did. I did what I did to protect myself, just in case it was lost. And to this day, the seller has still not replied to any of my PMs. Had the club been lost, I feel my steps would have been correct. Once the club arrived, I immediately closed the PP claim, PM'd the seller w/ an update, and updated this thread.

Just curious, did you guys fill out the form in step 2 or go straight to step 3 and submit a missing mail search?

@Bogeyman_MD - the seller has still not responded to me, period. I tried to do everything I could with the limited knowledge I had available.
