TSR2 swing weight issues

I'm playing a 45 inch TSR2 driver.  Raw shaft length is 44 inches tip end to butt end.  It's a Ventus plus 5s blue with GP TV grip at 51 grams.  Head weight is 197 grams with the 9 gram head weight.  I put a 5 gram weight in playing 45 inches and it is still playing d3 with that weight.  I would like it to play D2 so it seems like I'd have to put in a 3 gram weight in the rear.  Has anyone done this and noticed any performance issues?  I'd also like to put about 4 grams of hot melt in this for sound, and be willing to increase the SW to D4.  Has anyone had any luck hot melting these for a bit more muted sound?   Thanks.

1) Don't get too fixated on swing weight values.   In most contexts they are meaningless.   If there is a problem with how the club feels, add weight based on actual feel during testing on the range.   Add it incrementally with lead tape to dial it in. Then when you're done you can replace the lead tape with alternatives (heavier screw in weights or hot melt).

 

2) 3 gm will do nothing to effect the performance of the head.  Doesn't matter where you place it.  It takes a LOT more added weight to have any appreciable effect on the head characteristics.   On top of that, adjusting the head weight to get the best head weight feel and get your best swing is always going to be way more important than anything that could be done to the head characteristics.

 

3) lots of people have successfully used both hot melt and lead tape to help mute the sound.   It might take a little experimentation to figure out the best location to place the added weight to get the best reduction in sound - but it can be very successful when you find the right spot.

What he said. Also, adjusting grip-side weight to hit a SW number doesn’t really change SW or what it was intended to measure, it just tricks the scale into showing a false reading. How that bit of bad information keeps on living baffles me. And that’s assuming you’re using a 50g grip of course.
