So I know the women usually play stimp 12 greens and these are 9.5. Also the wind and undulations at TOC are certainly a challenge putting, but seeing some really weak lags and most putts not getting to the holes. It seems that no matter the speed or length of putt, the pros just can't seem to get away from the ultra smooth, low acceleration putting strokes.

Might be the only place us hacks can have an advantage. Swing that putter and give the ball a whack! The one time when a poppier stroke may play better.

Didn't they mention yesterday that someone was putting with a hybrid?

It is hard to make worse than bogey from the left rough on 16 while it is hard to make better than double from OB. No matter how good you are swinging driver, you must take OB out of play.

Hard to see the winner coming from any pairing outside of the last 5 to tee off. Just too much talent in them. Hopefully I can survive another night to see the finish with our Lyd's 12.55pm tee time here. Really enjoyed watching Nelly and Lilia playing the conditions and seeing Lyd's continue to improve again to be more consistent 😊

I look at it differently.

If Jiyai Shin shoots +1, then it means -7 can win the tournament; it brings every player at -1 or better into the picture.  By the way, Jiyai Shin was T11 before third round started.

It won't surprise me if Lottie Woad, Mao Saigo, Charley Hull or Patty Tavatanakit wins it all.

@scott_Donald See if you can spot yourself in this video (timestamp ~44m13s = hole 16 at R3).

down wind bump and runs are better once you get the hang of the roll out on the greens. Into the wind you can hit it at the pin with a lob wedge and it stops dead. You can bump and run with a lob wedge but certainly is easier with less loft. The hardest shots on links is a down wind tee shot over something. In all honesty this year all the greens are far softer than a normal year with the wet weather all year.

her drive felt like it went right over my head -

half the players that I saw aimed centre of fairway and hit it in the rough; Ann Van Dam did it with an iron. The daring ones aimed right side of fairway and ended up in left side of the fairway.I hung around 15,16,17 tee all day.

Timestamp ~13mins ... see the impressive Jiyai Shin answer press-conference questions in English, then in Korean, then in Japanese.!

...and Timestamp ~13m53s ... is that Lydia Ko's not-often-seen husband? Some nice interactions/not-super-intrusive "PDA"?

...and timestamp ~2m05s of the preview/practice day ... who was that older Asian lady who spoiled Grace Kim's selfie with the golden eagle/-hawk... then endangered Ariya, by foolishly pushing/ shoving(!!) Ariya towards the eagle/-hawk during their selfie?

Interesting that Lilia Vu seemingly still doesn't have a club contract (and has a very mixed bag)

As usual ... take this WITB info with a pinch of salt e.g.

recent photos show Lilia using a Qi10 driver.

What’s in Lilia Vu’s bag?

Published: Aug 20, 2024 Updated: Aug 20, 2024

The American has been hugely successful in her last year on the LPGA Tour. Hannah Holden takes a look at the clubs that have helped her…

Lilia Vu’s rapid assent up the golf rankings from Epson Tour player to multiple Major Champion has been inspiring to watch. It also means she has overtaken Nelly Korda and become the Number One ranked player in the World. So, what clubs is she using to pick up titles and trophies? Let’s take a look at the Lilia Vu WITB 2024 rundown…

Lilia Vu has a real mixed bag of equipment in play. At the top of her bag she opts to use the TaylorMade Stealth driver and 3-wood before switching into a Callaway Apex UW to round out her wood set-up.

She uses a Srixon Z585 4-iron before switching into the Srixon Z785 irons from 5 iron down to pitching wedge. Unusually she only carries two wedges opting for a 56-degree and a 60-degree.

She uses a Scotty Cameron Golo 5 putter with a bright pink grip and a Titleist Pro V1x golf ball.

About Lilia Vu

Lilia Vu is an American Professional golfer. Before turning pro, she had quite the amateur career, winning Curtis Cup, Arnold Palmer Cup, and World Championship teams for the USA. She attended UCLA University before turning pro, where she racked up an all-time UCLA record of eight individual titles. She was the World’s Number One amateur for 31 weeks until she turned professional in 2019.

She struggled in her first year as a pro, making just one cut in nine starts on the LPGA. She bounced back on the Symetra Tour in 2021, winning three times to get her LPGA Tour card back.

At the start of 2023, she beat Angel Yin on the first playoff hole to win the Chevron Championship and become a Major Champion. She currently has three LPGA and three Symetra tour victories to her name.

LPGA Tour wins:
2023 Honda LPGA Thailand
2023 Chevron Championship
2023 AIG Women’s Open

Symetra Tour wins:

Hull wearing leggings... how times have changed at St Andrews.

I'm not one to get all up in arms about on course attire, but for whatever reason those leggings are best off for the gym or Walmart. Same with the goofy looking joggers that could identify as capri's.

IMHO... fine with leggings (eg Charley Hull)

... but Lydia Ko's attire is much more timeless/tailored (despite being not dis-similar in terms of fit, w.r.t. leggings?)

Here is Lydia giving Jiyai Shin a quick hug to wish her good luck today...  another example of Lydia being classy!

It's different.

Leggings are typically made of lydra, which is different to slim pants.
