... I love the games start at 10am here. I have the same NFL+ and RedZone. I will listen to the Bears on radio then watch later as after 2hours I can watch a condensed game without commercials.

Since it’s football season, I spent some time watching college games today.  I really dislike the targeting rule in college, not the purpose, but how it’s enforced and the penalties that result.  If you can’t tell it’s possible targeting at real speed by an official on the field then it needs to not be called.  Replay officials have a different vantage point and can instantly review at slow speed.  These guys are so big and fast.  I totally support taking the head out of tackling.  The other problem is the penalties.  If you want to review and enforce fine, but don’t kick the kid out of the game, give a 15 yard penalty.  The kid should not be ejected in the second half and then be forced to miss the first half of the next game.  I will compromise and say if it’s in the last 2 minutes of the second half, fine do the first half of the next game. To much money is involved to be effecting future games or parts of games.  Ok time for my mini rant to be over.

 

At least watching the NFL tomorrow I won’t have to watch them stop the game for a targeting review until next week.

Caleb Williams is supposed to be this generational quarterback, but did you know the last 15 quarterbacks selected No. 1 overall are 0-14-1 in their first career starts? And the Bears are favored by four points?! That's the largest Week 1 spread for a rookie quarterback in his first start since Terry Bradshaw back in 1970.

 

I don't believe the Titans are some kind of Super Bowl contender, but there's reason for optimism with all the moves they made this offseason. Such as the hiring of head coach Brian Callahan, and adding L'Jarius Sneed, Chidobe Awuzie, Ernest Jones, T'Vondre Sweat, Quandre Diggs, Jamal Adams, Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard, Tyler Boyd, JC Latham and Lloyd Cushenberry. It's quite a list. 

Here's why I'm going to take the points with Tennessee: I think the Titans defense is going to be tough for some quarterbacks to handle. New defensive coordinator and defensive back specialist Dennard Wilson is going to bring the pressure from all angles. It's not the most ideal first matchup for a rookie quarterback.

Anthony Richardson might be the most inexperienced starting QB ever to play the game.  I think the PP on the play is purely statistical. Vegas stats say betting home division dogs on opening day is over 60% win rate   This play might be the riskiest on the board in Week 1 I guess I still like to play the skinny and sometimes sacrifice the winny for the glory of it all!   Good Luck Everyone!  Starter fire that gun!

... My old playing partner in Chicago used to roll his eyes 🙄 when I stated I knew more about the Bears than the "experts". Especially John Clayton as he thought John was the best. No argument from me about Clayton being the best but I probably knew more than Clayton about the Bears. I only follow one team and read and view everything, watch and breakdown film of every game and have watched them since 1978. Clayton needs to know about every DB in the league and I don't even know the names of 90% of them. His NFL knowledge is obviously exponentially greater than mine for 31 teams, but not the Bears. 

... So the "experts" have said Williams will struggle, the defense isn't as strong as some think, Eberflus is a terrible HC and the Bears won't cover the 8.5 over for this year. I had to laugh at most of the bets are for the OVER (-145) on 8.5 because the Bears have so many delusional fans and he is taking the under (+125) because it is a better return. 

... The thing is, I don't remember any rookie QB with Williams skills starting on a team with the kind of weapons he has in Moore, Allen, Odunze, Emet and Swift as well as at least an average to above average OLine and a top 10 defense. They are usually drafted by a bad team with a porous OLine and few offensive weapons or they wouldn't be drafting in top 3 spots. So I will stick with my prediction of a Bears victory by 10 or more points and we will see early if I am a knowledgable fan or just another delusional homer.

Some quick thoughts as most of the games hit halftime. 
 

1) Daniel Jones is going to get hurt again, the OL isn’t any better.

2) Could Sam Darnold finally live up to being drafted #3.

3) Week 1 is a complete crapshoot since most don’t play in preseason 

4) I still don’t get what all the “experts” see in Justin Fields, he isn’t a NFL QB, could he be better than Russ, doubt it unless you call Fields a RB.

... Oh yea. Watched Fields for 3 years hold the ball and take sacks when WRs were WIDE open. Most definitely not an NFL QB. The irony is Wilson holds the ball too long at times too. This should be a rough year for the Steelers.
