Jameis is always 100% entertainment.  I like to find his games if my team is not playing or some other big-matchup game is not on.  If nothing else, he is fun to watch.

It will be interesting to see what Nix ends up being.  He will have to adjust once the league starts to actually prepare for him.  Not all QBs can do this.  Stroud is struggling with this now after looking unstoppable last year.  My guess is that he ends up like Mark Sanchez who came out strong and then was just OK once teams started to take him seriously and adjusted to take away his strengths.  Maybe the parallel to NFL fans wanting Sanchez to challenge Brady in the division is too close to Nix and Mahomes and I am way off.  For now, Nix has some nice high moments, but the bad ones are there too.

Yes he is! His positive energy and enthusiasm is absolutely fantastic.

There should be a list of Jameisisms. Just yesterday I heard him refer to the leaf blowers they used to clear the snow off the lines as “big blow dryers”.

And after last nights game. “I’m just praying for the lord to deliver me from pick-sixes”.

U made me think of another one. Purdy looked unstoppable at first as well. Of course the 9ers have been injury riddled. But also looks as tho NFL D coordinators have adjusted to his game.

Purdy is a good example.  He is excellent on schedule... so take away the schedule and he is not excellent, but I think that he is still better than many.  It will be interesting to see if he gets a big contract.  He is good NFL starter, but I doubt that 49ers pay him over $50 million.

Josh Allen was one of the few who was good, got limited with a low completion percentage as the league adjusted and then got better because of it.  Guys either are like the all-time greats who just adapt to anything, or their ceiling gets exposed.  Huge credit to Josh for pushing past.  Not sure what will happen to Burrow since he is not likely to be absolutely stacked with talent for long... if they lose Higgins or Chase, then we will find out.  Goff was excellent in his first year with McVay, but then the league caught up to him and he had to mature for 5 years and find a new team to get back to where he was.

I live in the SF Bay Area and was literally having this conversation yesterday with my buddy that’s a big 9er fan.

I bet Purdy wished his rookie deal was up after last season. He will at least have next season to turn it around.

Gonna have a bit of a rant here since I just don't understand why people don't get high level football coaching and stuff...  This whole stuff with the Chiefs being down this year, just like the Pats before them, is just dumb to me.

Everybody understand checkers vs chess in a single game.  Belichick vs Mangini.  Too few people understand checkers vs chess for a season.  There are a lot of good coaches who get this, but not enough fans, IMO.

Chess has opening, middle game and end game.  They are all important and the best players already know how they are going to open, are dynamic enough to test/try things in the middle game and then once they know what they have, they are death in the end game.

In Football, training camp and the first game or two is the opening.  Most coaches install THEIR idea and play their way in the first game or two.  Andy Reid is beyond good at this.  Culture and identity are in this phase.

Weeks 2/3 through near the end of the season is the middle game.  This is what I feel that most people do not understand.  Good coaches are not always trying to win, will play guys just to see what they have, will sit guys with mysterious injuries to rest them.  They are trying to figure out what they have.  The teams game plan for each game, but they often do not show much, will gladly lose to an opponent than pull out all of the stop to win in week 12 (belichick has admitted as much against Pittsburg or Indy).  They will let struggling players stay in the lineup to see if they develop.  Under no circumstances will they floor the acellerator in this phase - this is peaking too early.  This is a really hard phase and fans can get upset in this phase because they don't get what is happening.  Fans don't know that these teams will Milton Berele the game in favor of finding out what they have, developing or not putting things on tape.

Once a good team knows what it has, it will go into the end game.  This is usually very late in the season.  Last year, this was Christmas day for KC where they accepted that they had to play small ball and rely on defense.  This is when they stop trying to develop and put their guys in the best position to win - they stopped playing 2 receivers who were dropping passes after giving them plenty of time to get better.  The good plays come out.  The dumb plays disappear.  Belichick always said that the season started at Thanksgiving - he sometimes would start later than this, but you get the point.

Too many teams just try and put 100% on the field every week.  If they have talent, they usually peak too soon and are in a bad position to finish the middle game and their end game is bad.  I worry about Detroit this year - Buffalo and Ravens have done this in years past.  Buffalo looks different this year and I think that they are doing all of this right.

For KC this year, they have issues at LT and are seeing if anybody will develop.  They have a injured guy likely getting time soon in addition to the young guys that they have tried.  They are still in development or figuring stuff out mode.  If they were trying to just win, Andy Reid knows how to call screen passes and other plays to slow down the rush to protect his bad tackles, but these plays do not develop guys or show you what you really have.  Defense has been playing a talented guy at corner who is coming off of an ACL to see if he can make progress - he got benched last week for the guy who will likely play the rest of the year, but this was likely all by design to see what he had to offer and these coaches are not boobs.  KC is afforded more time to do this since they are winning anyway, but it might be a few more weeks before we see end-game Chiefs.

Belichick, Andy Reid, Pete Carroll and Tomlin (when he had a QB) were all really good at this.  Bills appear to be getting this.  Some teams have to go 100% and try and get to the playoffs - 2023 Dolphins come to mind.  Some teams should be able to do this and I don't think that their coaches are there yet - Kyle Shanahan.  You rarely see the teams who don't have a chess-level whole-season play win the SuperBowl - Rams over Bengals and then I don't even know before that.

Again, my apologies.  I usually get to give all of this to kids, but I am not coaching this year so have to let off some steam...

Some fun games yesterday.  The rams win was big...they are a team, when healthy, that no one wants to face.

Nacu is da man! Super impressive.

And that TD Kupp had that he pinned against his leg was ridiculous.

Super fun team to watch and So-Fi is one of my favorite places to watch a game.

The lord did deliver Jamies from Pick Sixes this week.  2 picks, just not for Tuddys.  I truly love this guy.  KC plays them this week, so I get to focus 100% on Jameis.

Are the NYG or NYJ in a worse place as a franchise?  I thought about this and can go either way.

Let’s see

Tha Jets sign one of the best QBs ever and now he’s crap

The Giants trade an RB who had 960 rushing yards in 14 game last year, and this year he already has 1600 rushing yards in 13 games, and is actually mentioned in MVP conversations

So  as a NYer, I’d say they equally garbage 🤣

Not sure that it has ever worked out to meet a player's every demand like Jets did for A A Ron.  Some say Brady to Tampa, but he allowed them to move his salary over many years for flexibility and when they brought in his guys like Gronk and Antonio, the also was on board to cut Antonio.  Brady was way more flexible and seems to have made suggestions rather than demands.

Seems that most NFL owners have Hubris as a middle name and most won't learn from this since normal things do apply to them, but all of them should.  Woody and Christopher Hubris-Johnson just seem like they know more than everybody else.  That cannot be good.

Wondering Brady can be an adult in the room for the Raiders.  Who knows.  I can just as much see him cashing out in a few years and going elsewhere.

With HS football over, spent some time looking at playoff teams.

In the AFC, everybody loves the Bills, but only have 2 wins against playoff teams - seahawks and KC wins with only one more game against Detroit.  All three Bills losses agains playoff teams, potentially.  KC is 5-1 right now... and play 3 more in Houston, Steelers and Denver.  Denver and Chargers are in the playoffs and only have one win against a WINNING TEAM and it was when they played each other and The Whales v***** won.  Steelers are 3-0 with 3 games left against Philly, Ravens and Chiefs.

Think that the feelings about Buffalo might be a bit lofty and the worry about KC might be a bit too much.  Steelers can really move the needle in their next three against playoff teams.

I think I’ve brought it up before somewhere on the site. Somehow I land on the Pat McAfee show almost every morning. (Guessing just bcs ESPN is just an automatic move for me to see what on). But my goodness, that show and his group of “bros” is hard to take!! I can only take it for like 4 minutes.

*ok, I feel better 😊

**looking forward to Rams @ 9ers this evening!
Big game 🙌🏼

IMO, Rich Eisen and the folks with him are excellent for a national show.  I mostly listen to local stuff, though.  I don't care for the mile wide and 2 inches deep garbage unless I just want to laugh and be entertained - hated the guy as a player growing up in KC, but Shannon Sharpe can really be funny when he wants.

“Counting the 2024 season, the Jets have now missed the playoffs for 14 consecutive seasons. That's the longest streak in the NFL, and it's also longer than any current playoff drought in the NBA, NHL, MLB”

It’s staggering enough to see this in print but to really see how insane this is,
