I am amazed every time I see Buffalo's new stadium being built and it does not at least have a retractable roof.  It was not that long ago that they played games in other cities because of snow... like 3-4 years ago?

For a while there, Ravens looked like Georgia playing Utah Tech in August with 15 yards a pop on the ground.

Don't know what to make of Buffalo needing to be plus 3 in turnovers to win by 2.

Andy or Bill kick the PAT each time until the very end.  Ravens have a shot at OT if they just take points in front of them... although Bills had more than a minute and 3 TOs to get 40-45 yards.  Baltimore 1 for 5 on 2 point conversions.

There is some sentiment in league offices that a team rarely ever wins "their own" Super Bowl.  KC won Baltimore's last year.  KC might have won their own in 2022.  Rams won Packers in 2021.  Bucs won KC in 2020.  KC won Ravens in 2019.  Most known is Giants winning Patriots in 2007.  Whose "season" was it this year and whose Super Bowl was it to lose?  Maybe Buffalo or Lions?

Everything about that franchise from its fan base, to the Mahomes family, and even the Swifties is insufferable.  Andy Reid is the only like-able person associated with the chiefs. Wasn’t a fan of the Patriots in their heyday (more out of jealousy) but I respected the heck out of Belichick and Brady and the whole “do your job” mindset.

it is just because of time.  When the next dynasty comes along, people are going to talk about how they liked the Chiefs more.  Don't forget that the Patriots filmed the Rams practices before the Super Bowl, had a known murderer on their roster, spied on opponents, lied on injury reports, intentionally deflated footballs below legal limits and other dirty things.  Brady took all kinds of garbage for breaking up with his pregnant girlfriend to get with a supermodel.  Remember when Peyton Manning and Big Ben swore that there were microphones in the visitors locker room in Gilette and never talked about anything in there, or purposefully talked about wrong plays?  Patriots were plenty hated.  Time heals most wounds.

Do people forget that Big Ben used date rape drug and had to settle multiple rape lawsuits that the NFL just ignored?  NFL has said that they regret not suspending him.  People forget in time.

I was born in KC and now live here in Denver and people hated Peyton Manning.  It was all success based.  I used to tell people to chill out since he seemed like a good dude and not to hate that his face was just everywhere.  Then, Broncos signed him and they loved him.  Same would happen if any fanbase signed Mahomes or Kelce... the whole fanbase would have 87 jerseys with Swift on them.

Yup hated the Patriots BITD (tuck rule, cheating), indifferent on Big Ben in Peyton… Just don’t see how other stuff being hated or bad makes how myself or anyone else feels about the Chiefs any different 🤷🏼‍♂️

True that! Silver lining, they wouldn’t look like McDonalds uniforms!

*I’ve disliked the Chiefs long before Mahomes & Travis. They just make it worse. Haha

A retractable roof is cost prohibitive in a small market like Buffalo and given they only have 3-4 games a year where it would be needed an unnecessary burden on taxpayers. The Miami Dolphins however do approve of a Buffalo retractable roof.

Retractable roof stadiums get NCAA Regional events, winter concerts, Final Fours and other indoor events.  The tax revenue from having an indoor stadium is a lot... ask Omaha and Oklahoma City.  Plus, any team with a dome and a new stadium gets a Super Bowl like Minneapolis did.  World cup and olympic stuff is also in play.  In a large metro with facilities that can host these things already, a retractable roof is not necessary, but Buffalo is not that.

I think that northern outdoor football teams are better suited for playoff football, so I get that they don't want a full-time dome.  I would always have the roof open for games and let it be 15 degrees, just keep it closed for the days up until the event... happy to let Miami suffer on game day.

Buffalo should at least have a covered area for table jumps and stuff for the fans.

I am happy to lean into the hate for being a KC fan.  This is an easy check to pay for the victories and my wallet is out.  I just hate the stupid stuff from the fans who don't get the whole picture.  To be fair, I told other KC fans not to blame refs, hate on Gronk, Edelman or other dudes who appeared to be good dudes just because they won, etc.  If they wanted to harbor resentment to Bill and Tom for cheating, then so be it, but they also paid their dues with lost draft picks and some fines (which are probably pennies to them).

My turning point was when Broncos won back to back with Elway in the late 1990s.  I was a young man still in college and just decided to celebrate greatness instead of hate on it.  This also was solidified for me when I had a pair of D1 athletes and had to hear the other parents from 12u onward talk about how lucky they were, how they got the calls and all of that with no idea of how hard they worked, what they sacrificed and all of that.  They were both 6', strong and super fast but that is all that they did not earn.  I guess that they were lucky because they threw a softball so fast that nobody could hit it... or that they got lucky when they hit a ball over, or to, the wall.

We had 2-14 seasons and I also supported the Chiefs.  Had a player shoot his girlfriend and then commit suicide on site one day - google Jovan Belcher if you don't know... horrible.  Been there for the crap, so enjoying it now.

I hate the bandwagon Chiefs fans too, but I think that is universal for any fanbase.

I am also happy to bag on the refs, but just want to include all bad calls and not just the obvious ones that the announcers got upset about or those that were on the losers.  This culture of ref blaming is getting so bad that we have to play HS games from Wed to Sat in Colorado because they cannot get crews to do all of the games on Friday.  Sometimes, games have to get canceled.  Parents are even worse than NFL fans.  If any of you like sports and want to make good coin for a few hours of work, go and be a HS ref... even easy jobs like line judge are needed in most areas.  You will have to eat all of the garbage that you see refs get online, but at least you will be helping out.

What is everybody's predictions for Sunday?  Storylines?

KC over Bills for me.  Bills have as good of a chance as ever - this team is gritty and tougher than in years past.  However, I worry about them peaking too early, D being porous and just will not pick against KC until somebody actually does it.  If KC wins, storyline probably refs and luck with fans.  If Bills win, then well deserved credit for finally getting over the hump regardless of how they win (even if lucky or flukey.)  Unknown: how/why Bills needed to be +3 to barely beat the Ravens.

Eagles over Commies.  If Eagles win, then more hate put on NYG for letting Saquan go.  Eagles probably don't get as much credit as they deserve since the credit has bee quiet all season. Eagles have a really good top to bottom roster.  If Commies win, then Daniels best QB in NFC.  What will get missed with the Daniels talk is the good Commies roster picking high for at least a decade.  Unknown: Hurts health.  Unknown for next year: if Daniels will be Stroud once league has chance to adjust to him.

I like Ben Johnson and think that he has juice and is smart.  If he cannot get it done in Chicago, then nobody can.  Remember when Nagy got fired for making playoffs 2 or 3 years with TRUBISKY and people thought that he was a clown - dude should be on HOF watchlist with that feat.

I think that Buffalo fans are really cool.  Raising money for Mark Andrews to feel better is a solid move.  Sure, if Buffalo wins a few titles, then the fans will labeled as arrogant jerks just rubbing it in to the other fanbases while the refs and league rig their games, but I will still like The Mafia's dedication and love of the game first and foremost.

Crazy stats that I heard lately:

Every NFC team has made the championship game since 2010, but Cowboys...who have not been since 1994.  Americas Team!

KC has not had a turnover in 8 games, which is the longest streak in the SuperBowl era.

48 penalties have been called on KC opponents in the 4Q and OT in the last few years.  47 have been called on KC.  Definitely rigged.

Lamar won a MVP and Mahomes a SB and MVP before they were the same age as Jaylen Daniels is now.

Josh Allen has something like 4% of plays this season in sack, INT or fumble which is the lowest in the SuperBowl era.  Remember when this kid led the league in bad plays by a wide margin.  Awesome player.

John Elway is still kicking himself for not drafting Allen in 2018 althugh the Broncos seem set at QB now.

As for the Chiefs and penalties, I see the numbers but it always seems like the Chiefs benefit from a penalty at just the right time in a game.

I think that Broncos would have ruined him and he would be the backup for The Giants now.  Bowlen Family dispute over the team, bad coaches, GM, etc.  Broncos were not ready to win or have a good QB back then.  I truly believe that if Drew Lock was drafted by Buffalo and developed, he could be on the AFC Championship this weekend and if Josh Allen drafted by Denver and not developed, he would still be one of the historically worst accurate passers around and probably be hurt from having to run the ball too much.  All credit goes to Josh for developing, but these guys cannot do it alone... and they will tell you that.

Along the same lines, I believe that Mahomes would likely have a superbowl and maybe an MVP if he was drafted by another team, but ownership, Alex Smith, Andy, etc. all helped this guy develop into being in the conversation for the GOAT when it is all said and done.  He doesn't have 3 rings with many other teams.

Can Sunday get here soon enough?

Disagree on Allen & Denver - he has worked hard in the offseason with Jordan Palmer to correct his mechanics and is probably the 2nd best running QB behind Lamar. He would have done that with any team.

If the Broncos had drafted Allen, the Bills would have been stuck with Josh Rosen and today would be in QB purgatory,.

Studying the Commies (who their fans and media call them since they hate the name) and Eagles.  Cosmi is out at RT and he was Washington's only good O lineman.  They relied on him to lock up that side, survive in the middle and then help on the left.  Daniels appeared to look that way when he needed to escape and used Cosmi as a foundation to shift the pocket.  Eagles D line are beasts and I think that they will pressure Daniels a lot and/or Washington will need to keep a lot of guys in to help.  If Daniels handles this without much issue, then look out... dude could be Mahomes/Brady in the making.  If he looks like a rookie, gets frustrated and makes some mistakes, then Eagles can win with a hurt Hurts who nobody seems to know what his injury is, but Vegas has refused to move the line.  Even if Daniels looks bad against this Eagle D, this is no indictment.

I like the Chiefs! Mahomie the spaceman is a goat contender, and just a winner. He is probably the single biggest impact player who can take the task of winning the biggest games on his shoulders and get it done

Nobody is telling me they have ever seen a QB better than Mahomie.

And I like tay tay too! Right @aenemated? 🤣 🍻

Anyway, from what I recall watching football since the mid 70s as a kid, the Chiefs fans have have earned some good fortune.

As far as this weekend…

First and foremost I wanna see good games. Beyond that I’m not invested in any of these teams but I’d like to see the Chiefs and definitely the Commanders win. If they can beat the eagles that would be insane

Still struggling to understand why the Bills traded the 10th pick in the 2017 draft to KC when they could have had Mahomes.

Good thing they got Allen in 2018 or fans would have burned down the city.

Mahomes had bad footwork, spread QBs could not play in the NFL and he was just a gunslinger who worked off platform and could not run a real offense.

Few really wanted Mahomes.  Sean Payton, who is the king of revisionist history, came out a few years later about how they wanted him but the Chiefs jumped The Saints.  Nobody is so sure of this on actual draft day since they had a shot at Deshaun and took Marshon Lattimore instead.

Always wonder if KC takes Deshaun how this all turns out.  Is Deshaun a 2x MVP and 3x SuperBowl winner?  I think that orgs matter, but the player does too... so my guess is that Deshaun has 1x SuperBowl and maybe a MVP and the team that took Mahomes has a SuperBowl too.

Most of the stuff is still available on YouTube and it is just comical now.  This one is my favorite... Billick says that teams like Cleveland, Jets, 49ers, Chicago (who took Trubisky) looked and said "Mahomes is not good enough."  Am I remembering the league wrong in 2017 and these were some sort of super-smart orgs back then?  49ers took Soloman Thomas at number three after a complete org reboot with John Lynch's first draft selection.

Deshaun Watson was nearly consensus to have the best career shortly after the draft.  When Skip is the only one who likes you, that is probably a good sign too.

I think that it is fun to look back at stuff like this.  Indy took a Guard the pick before Josh Allen.  Quenton is a really good guard, but is a guard.  I know that Indy had Andrew Luck, but I still find it funny.  I also remember an analyst saying that Josh Allen could put a hand in the ground and rush the passer if his accuracy did not get better as a QB (56% in a non-power league)... actual draft analysis... comp was Jake Locker.

Lamar is the on that kills me.... both in the draft and any team could have had him for 2 first round picks a few years ago.  He did just sit out a year before the non-exclusive franchise tag in what appears to be pouting over a contract and his mother was his agent, but it looks dumb now.
