Troon Access

Seems like Troon is really changing a lot of the features that made the card a great value in the past. How many people in this group are going to keep it how many are walking away?

I dropped my Troon card for 2024 because the 72-hour booking window is just useless for weekend tee times. That and Troon courses are stupid expensive even with the card. 

 

Seeing that Troon Access is still a 72-hour booking window, idk how much interest I have in it. 

 

As everything else with Troon, I just assume this will be more profitable for them and more expensive for us.

I was never able to figure out how to make the math work to gain some value with the Troon card.   But then again, I am a confirmed Cheap-Azzz.

I think it is not nearly as good because even with the 2-some pack I had the opportunity to give someone else the same rate. Now everyone has to have a access card and the 50% off requires a higher level card. This is a good comparison chart though for anyone that was confused like me:

I never took advantage of the 2 for 1's when I had it but I know some people were able to use it to their advantage. I was planning on getting the Troon Card again next year but rethinking that again.

I had the Troon Card for a number of years.  The 2some was great for me because I play a ton with my wife.  So the card always wound up paying for itself (by a lot) because I'd rack up savings on both of our times. I also got the national card the last couple years I had it so I could use when I traveled to California and to visit my sister in Naples (she lives next to Tiburon).

 

This now makes it $600 after tax to get the card for the two of us (which really isn't much different than buying a 2 some card) but at the expense of losing all the 2 for 1s.

 

Again, I dropped the card in 2024 because Troon courses have become exponentially more expensive even with the card.  Paying over $200 for 'discounted' time after paying $600 or whatever for the right to that 'discount' is just stupid. 

 

The 78 hour window is also virtually useless if you want a weekend time before 11.

Got decent value out of my 2some card last season, barely used the summer card this year. Will not be signing up again for reasons already noted above.

Used the summer card a ton the last few months.  Used a bunch of twofers as well.  Will get it again next summer.

My understanding was this year was the first time for the summer card.  If they dont offer again I wont be getting access.

They've had the summer card for a while. Not sure when it started but its been out there for a long time

I have been gone and did not see the changes...going through them now and have to say that I may be done with Troon now!

 

No 2-4-1 is huge.  That, at the bare minimum, was $500 in savings.

 

Looks like I lose my platinum status and 20% discount - so now only 15%.

They must not be having much luck selling Troon Access because I'm now getting multiple emails daily about it, offering discounts, etc.

This is my exact thoughts.

I got the new card.  So I will post my thoughts over the year.  
 

So my first pass thoughts:

-I keep my platinum status, so that’s good.  I get the 20% off rates anytime instead of 15%.

-The times I have looked to book have been mostly around 40% off if booking within 78 hours.  The caveat is that within 78h a lot of “prime” times are booked.  But for 1-2 players there was enough times available.

-Some courses are not available to book online or in the app.  So I have to call.  While that seems trivial, it is probably an inconvenience to most.

-There is a list of member events that I somehow saw, but it seemed a little weak as of now. Lessons or demos.

-One of the partner perks is Golfpass+ free for the year.  I have not looked into what that really does—supposedly $200 value.

-other perks are minor discounts on stuff.  Probably won’t use, but maybe.
