New Ping Moonlander Stand Bag Sighting! With pics

I'm also gaming a Rover Stand.  My experience has been overall pretty good.  Love the styling, balance and carry are great, and I really like the 3 way top.  The pocket layout is just weird and the stand could deploy faster. 

 

If I was in the market now, I'd take a look at the Moonlander but the styling of the Rover Stand still puts it over the top for me.  

 

 

Agree on the Rover Stand pocket layout.  While I find the straps to be comfortable I think they are too long such that they overlap and you can feel this on your back.  Pictures added in case this description doesn't make sense (2nd pic is the Moonlander).  It's not necessarily uncomfortable, but it feels odd and is another poorly thought out design aspect of the bag that just annoys me.

That’s Interesting. I’ve never noticed that. Ping definitely has the resources and experience to put thought into every single detail. 
 

I went with the same color Rover Stand. I took advantage of the Jones 40% and got some yellow zipper pulls and a yellow rangefinder pouch to mix it up some.

I just recieved this bag.  It is PERFECT.  And I have no idea why Ping is saying 4.5 lbs.  Somebody screwed up in marketing.

it's 3 - 3.5 tops.  Waaay lighter than Hoofer Lite.  I did not weigh it, but that is my perception comparing to Titleist Carbon etc.. (which I own).

Interesting ... if you could weigh the Moonlander, I'd appreciate it.  Currently use a Hoofer Lite, but if the Moonlander is truly that much lighter, I might be tempted to switch.

I'll try to this week.  I just loaded up with all my gear.  Also strangely, the no hip pad is not an issue at all.  Feels as comfy on the hip as any bag i've had.  Here are a couple pics.

If you're looking for something a bit larger than the Moonlite with more club room and legs... this is it.  I loved the Moonlite, but always felt it a hassle to get grips in the opening and pick up off the ground.

Think this bag would work ok on a cart?  I mostly ride, but love minimalist bags that I can walk with when I get the urge.  I just picked up a 25 Hoofer before seeing the Moonlander.  Would rather have just one bag is this one is doable on a riding cart.

It has more than enough structure to stand up and get strapped into a cart.

Will a rangefinder fit in the water bottle pocket?  Hows the tangle factor?

OK, just weighed it.   Mine comes in at 4 lbs.  I'm kinda surprised because it seems lighter.  I walked yesterday and it was very comfortable on the shoulders and the hip.  I'm very pleased O/A.   @ jt2gt , Range finder will fit perfectly in h2o holder, but there's a better pocket for that on top of the right side pocket.

OK...great, I just looked at your pics and think I see a zipper sticking up for that pocket.  BTW...I am assuming you weighed it with the straps, correct?

Finally saw it in person at PGASS.  I like everything about it except the pockets.  I wish it had one more.  The one-fingered "weight test" of Moonlander vs Hoofer Lite using the grab handles felt almost identical to me.  So for very close weight, I'd take the extra features the HL has.  The HL really is almost the perfect all-around bag.

I have a pretty good stable of golf bags. Ping L8’s, Moonlite’s, Stitch golf bags. I love them all.  When I saw this in the store I had to get it.  Ordered for justsaygolf. 
Here is one of my Stitch bags. I think the Moonlander will look great as well.

I don’t understand not having a full pocket on the side. A place for rain gear and a pair of hat and gloves or something. 
 

I’m impressed by the price though. With the CEL being much more they really had no reason to make this the entry price point.

I can't say for sure, but I would bet the SM 3.5 is easily over 4 pounds.

really? I feel like what sets these bags apart is the material. the Ping has a canvas like material compared to the flimsy material on the 3.5.

Are you looking for something different? Before my Jones Rover Stand, I gamed a CEL and had no issues with it. If you’re looking for a literal replacement , you can find some sweet deals on CEL right now. 
 

If you want a different light carry bag, you should consider the Moonlander and even the Rover Stand which I have now.

I agree, my Hoofer Lite is the best carry bag I’ve had in a long time. I have the white tropical floral pattern from 2022 (I think….) and it is awesome. 
 

If Ping brought that back in the Moonlander I’d be all over that.

Like the Rover Stand and the black Stitch posted above, this is a minimalist's stand bag.  Ping has set up three tiers of bags depending on how "prepared" you want to be: 

• Hoofer that can basically hold everything but the kitchen sink 
• Hoofer Lite take what you need, with some room to bring a little extra 
• Moonlander take only what you need 

The new Moonlite looks great too.
