One set of irons for the rest of your days....What you bagging?

If price were of no concern I'd go with the new COBRA LIMIT3D Irons, everything I've seen about them is phenomenal.

 

If I have to pay for them I'd go with Srixon ZX7 MKIIs, as long as i could switch out to ZX5 as needed at the top of the set.

If they would last forever, then I would go with the Stenson version of the Callaway Legacy Black.  Unfortunately, since they are soft Endo forged irons, they have a finite life and won't last forever.

That being the case, I would go Ping i230.  Have had them all year and not a single ding on them at all.  Worse case I can always send them back for refinishing at Ping and get that new feel all over again.

It's probably the best all arounder for solid, consistent distance and accuracy, great feel, and pretty good forgiveness across the board.  Such a wide range of players can play this iron and that makes it a keeper in my book.

Probably the 681s in my current set. Or my old Nike Blades or MP14s. 

 

Any of those would do. Just stick ever-softer shafts in them every few years until I'm playing 80 gram A-Flex jobs on my 100th birthday. They all go well if you hit them in the middle. When I can't do that any longer, I'll pack it in. 

 

Backup set would be my old beryllium Eye 2s.

Im honestly a little depressed. I love to club ho and tinker but this set im in now is my unicorn. T200 T150 combo set that is the perfect mix of everything for me. I played my best golf to date with them this year and they're staying in the bag for the long run.

For pure enjoyment, I would probably go back to the Mizuno MP-20 blades, or some other forged Mizuno blade or small cavity back (like the MP-60).

Well does cobra have a surprise for you next year, they are making the 3d irons available again, just not limited edition this time. And about a grand cheaper

That's a great thought they did make the baby blades also 2-PW so that would translate to today's 4-11 better and probably still about the same lofts.

I bought mine from 2nd swing around 2018 when they had a few sets listed as used but were damn near mint, 3-p for $957.00

the bay has a 2-PW heads only for $3,700 or something like that, but are they real is the question. I would venture Muira is one of the most counterfeited club makers out there, if not the most.

Couldn’t shake this set of Miura’s and pieced together this new setup for “golf swing longevity”, moving on from Oban CT115 shafts to the LA Golf L-series shafts.
 

So far oh so good, loving the new setup and falling in love w these CB1008’s again

Ping i210 with Fujikura axiom 125x. I’d go with a cast iron that won’t get worn out as easily as forged irons. Something with a touch of forgiveness but good feel. I’d also go with graphite shafts, reducing stress on my joints so that I could use them indoors off a mat, and use them as I start to age. But they’d be heavy graphite to match my SS.

I would have to say either Miura MB101's or Ben Hogan Apex 99's. I have a set of each currently and I love them to the point where I will never sell them off.

Given I am a Ping guy, I'd like to say a set of G series irons.  G4xx. 

But once they jacked the lofts they don't work as well for me.  

 

So I would probably say Cleveland 588 Altitude irons.  I have owned a steel 85g set for about 10 yrs and I always fall back to them when I buy a new set and wait for it to come in.  They always serve me well and I shoot some of my best rds of the year.

 

Right now I am gaming Mizuno 925 HL irons and the 8i-GW pretty much match the results of my Altitude irons but the 925HLs have a little more oomph in the 6 and 7 irons.  About 8-10' higher peak height on avg and about 1-2* steeper descent angle with the same amt of spin.

The Mizuno MP-4s I've had for a decade that replaced the MP-33s I had for 13 years. Not sure the MP-4s will make it more than another 5 years and then I'll probably get the current MP blade. But if Mizuno were smart they'd re-release the MP-4. My son has the Mizuno Pro 241 and they're great but not as good looking in the bag or at address as the MP-4. How about it Mizuno? I'd buy a new set in a heartbeat and then at my age (61) I'm definitely good for the rest of my playing days.
