What do you mean by “forgiveness is 20% better”?

I realized I preferred my TSR2 and just sold the GT2.

had a range session with the GT2 w/ventus black + today.  The consistency across the face is ridiculously good.  Bad shots are nowhere near as punishing compared to TSR and GT3/4 heads.  It's def less spin and looks a lot better than the TSR2 at address.  I have the GT2 9*, turned down to 8.25, but it doesn't look like it standing over the ball.  It looks like it has more than loft.  The flight of the GT2 looked similar to the TSR3.  Def going in the bag for the first part of the season.

I totally agree about the forgiveness - coming from the TSi3 where the center strikes were spectacular but anything low was abysmal. The side-to-side forgiveness is amazing - and centered strikes truly sound and feel like a forged club. When you can get the swingweight in check (was difficult for me, came in at D1 and had to get a +6 weight to get it to D4.5), it flat-out performs.

You may be the first person I know with a GT2 and new Black+ - that's a sick low spinning, forgiving combo. I'm loving the Blue. Don't have to tee it more than mid, and it launches up in the air and just goes and goes.

Keep in mind this is my opinion but I played the TSR2 for 2 seasons.  20% more forgiveness is when I hit it on the toe or heel and and distance lost.  Also I have a right miss than went offline 20 or 30 yards with TSR and with GT is 10 to 20.  Maybe you are a better ball striker than me and didn't see the differences I did?  Certainly not bashing the TSR2 because I loved it but GT2 is gonna help my game.

As far as someone's comment on Titleist just catching up, I think the GT line went by a lot of others not just catching up.

I thought this was a crazy statement too.  The TSR2 was one of the best drivers the last two years.  I’ve hit the longest and most accurate drives with my TSR2 since I’ve played the game.

No, seriously, just do it.  You'll save the money over the course of a season in fewer lost balls (especially if you use premium balls at $4-5 apiece).  I am down to less than 1 lost ball every 4-5 rounds off the driver instead of 1-2 a round.

Thanks. I was just curious how you were gauging that.

My buddy loves his GT2. I just don’t really see a difference on the monitor or the real world, plus I prefer the feel of TSR.

The GT2 fairway is a different story. I’m very excited about the 13.5 compared to TSR2+

First off, I have pretty much used Titleist drivers for the last 20 years. Notable favorites are 983, 910 D2 and TSR2.

Without a doubt the GT2 is best Titleist driver I’ve hit. TSR is very good and would be happy to play it but GT2 just does everything a little better.

GT2 feel is almost like forged feel.

Spin is about 200 less than TSR.

Forgiveness is about 20% better.

Looks wise similar to TSR2 but just a bit more refined.

Flight is a little higher with more carry than TSR2.

Distance is about half a club longer “5 to 7” yards on center strikes but if you add in forgiveness on off center strikes the advantage it is more than that.

Both TSR and GT are 44.75 length GD UB6 shaft.

Thanks.  Giving GT a whirl soon.  Don't want to stray from my Ping, but hear nothing but great things.

You’ve dropped your lost ball rate by 85%?

And you were losing 1-2 balls a round off the tee?

As a former TSi3 user, which ended up having a cracked head. I'm not sure if the GT2 is that much more forgiving or whether my cracked head was causing extremely wayward shots. The consistency off the GT2 still shocks me. I know I hit one low heel but it just loses 10 yards of carry and doesn't veer way off-line. My old driver would have spun up 1,000 RPM, gone 30 yards off-line and 30 yards short. I never hit the TSr line but the GT line is giving me some much needed confidence off the tee.

Yes.  The course we primarily play is VERY tight. It was not at all unusual to lose a ball or 2 OB every round.  I have gone 3 rounds now w/o losing one OB or into a penalty area off the tee w/ the GT2...and haven't really been close.

I had a driver fitting this evening and landed on the GT2.

I currently game a Cobra LTDx with a stiff shaft. I tried all the latest driver models from Cobra, TM, Callaway, and Ping.

The final was between the Cobra Darkspeed and GT2. The GT2 won.

The GT2 with a regular flex shaft was 10 yards longer with 9 yds dispersion vs. 24 yds for my LTDx.

Now I’ve got to convince myself to spend the money. 😖😆

Which shaft did you get along with best in the GT2?

I have a GT2 11* head and a TSR2 11* head.  I have hit both with the same shaft - Ventus TR Red 5R.

The good shots with both go very far (for me).  The bad shots, not so much.  i guess I will have to line up time at an indoor pub that has trackman fitting bays.

One thing I did notice was that the face height of the GT2 was slightly less than the face height of the TSR2.  As I like shallow drivers, I'll probably sell the TSR2.

See how this fairway is about as narrow as the street next to it?  There's a very tight gap to get off the tee, a 15+' patch of rough on the right side of the cart path, maybe 25' to the left of the fairway, and OB on both sides.  There are a few holes on this course like this, so yeah, it's huge that I'm now blasting the ball long and mostly straight (and if there's curve, it's a manageable cut).

Now, if I could hit a 60° wedge with half the accuracy as my driver, I'd have had 5-6 birdies this round instead of 1...

I also have a 11° TSr2 and now a 12° TSr1. I hit the TSr1 so much better and further with the TSr1. I guess I need the extra spin and location of the cog that the TSr1 provides.

There is a lot you can say about your own driver fitting that will fall somewhere in the spectrum of "opinion", and as such nobody can really argue with you if they see different in their own experience.

However when you say an absolutely wild (and made up numbers) statement like "forgiveness is 20% better"? Now you're open for criticism. The GT2 has a lower and more forward CG position than TSR2. It is objectively and factually a LESS forgiving head with lower MOI.

I started with a 9 degree GT2. Loved the feel and hit it great, just hit it a little high for my liking. Decided to try a 9 degree GT3 as many said it felt even better then the GT2. I hit it fine and it was long but it didn't feel as good as the GT2 in my opinion.  Found an 8 degree GT2 head and decided to give it a try. I am in love, both GT2 heads felt better then the GT3 to me, more of a softer forged type feel that others have said. Love this driver!

I played the TSR2 for 2 seasons and it has been my favorite driver to date.  I did upgrade to the GT2 driver.  Overall, i think the GT2 is alittle bit better on toe and heel strikes.  The spin with the GT2 seems to vary less across the face, compared to the TSR2.   I do think that strikes high on the face of the TSR2 would result in low spin bombs that I don't see as much with the GT2, but the better heel and toe strikes are worth it.  We tend to speak in superlatives every time we get something new, but the TSR2 is such a good driver, that it is really hard to say that the GT2 is dramatically better.
