jdl
If the sun is out and there's no wind/rain then I'll play at probably 45 or higher. But any one of those 3 and the cutoff is a lot higher, probably 55 or so.
Hawkeye77
Minimum has to be in the 40s for me these days and other factors play into it as well, of course. Generally, that's just an issue in very early spring - we have plenty of snow and the course shuts down over the winter. I'm not a die hard into the fall any more - other outdoor interests take over in the limited time I have and it gets dark a lot earlier - played my last round of '24 two weeks ago and put the clubs away and once they are "away", i.e., in the basement, lol, they stay there for the winter (may take a trip to AZ this winter, so that would be an example of a rare exception). Plenty to do in and around the property going into winter and my dogs want to be afield.
CTG77
Unless the course is closed for frozen greens, a tornado warning, or lightning, I'm a golf sicko and am headed to the course if I am not working, officiating a hockey game, or hanging out with my wife. I spend too much time working to skip what little time I do have to play golf because of some stupid weather. If it's cold, I'll walk wearing a hoodie as the outer layer with hand warmers in the pockets and wearing a regular Callaway Tour Authentic leather glove (I hate the winter-style glove feel) on both hands). A few layers top and bottom and a good hat covering the ears with the hoodie going up and down between shots, and I'm good to go. Since it rarely rains in D/FW w/o lightning, I don't often try to play in rain anymore, but if it was like back home in Illinois, I'd be out more frequently doing that too. 1 Quote Titleist GT2 8° Graphite Design Tour AD-VF 6S Stiff / -1" Shaft / D1 Titleist TSi2 15° 3W - Tensei AV Raw White 85X / -1" / D1 Titleist TSR2 18° 5W - MCA Tensei AV Raw Blue 75X - Tipped 1" / A1 Mizuno Pro S-3 Irons (4-PW) with AeroTech SteelFiber i95cw stiff Vokey SM10 50°.08F / Cleveland RTX6 54.10° and Cleveland CBX4 58.12° Golf Pride MCC+4 standard grips Void Saber V2 - Cobalt Blue with Iomic Midsize Orange Putter Grip (75-grams) Ball: 2025 Maxfli Tour

Golfbit2X
I've been playing in temperatures below freezing for the past 3 years and I've adjusted to frozen ground by using "winter golf equipment": 1.) 4 inch metal nail and hammer or knife from multi tool to create holes for my tees 2.) Winter golf gloves 3.) Baklava 4.) Fleece socks 5.) 3 layers of clothes (long-sleeve fleece base layer, grid pattern, half-zip fleece, grid pattern, insulated vest, long Johns and fleece pants) 6.) Freeze-proof ball rag 7.) Fleece cap It takes a bit longer to prep as a walker but the benefits include walk-on play (no reservation needed), +80-100 yards roll on drives and less golfers on the course. I've shot my top 3 lowest rounds during winter and also my first HIO so I always look forward to winter. SnowbirdTom
I'll start in the low 40s if the forecast high is at least 50*. At that temp, no rain and mild winds are key. mshills
Not a specific temperature for me. I’m pretty hardy and if the course is open, with the right base layer and outer layer, I can stay warm enough walking. If it’s a high of 40, that means plenty of the round will be in the 30s. Add wet or wind to that and no thanks. I also don’t like playing if the course is a muddy mess, and if the ground is frozen, forget it. 1 Quote Ping. Play Your Best. Bonneville85308
I'll play as low as the mid 30s if it's clear sunny skies with no wind. Windy, cloudy day, I'll draw the line somewhere in the 50s. Since I live in Phoenix, I'll play up to about 115 degrees. To tee off when it's around 105+, it has to be a solo round on an empty course where I can fly around.
playit
I don't know what it'll be now that I have started playing again after many years but it used to be that if the day's high would be 50 and little/no, we'd play. Shilgy
Well, I’ve played when it’s 35° and sleeting….33° and snowing….and 121° (no, not snowing). My tolerance is much higher for the heat than the cold these days and have no issues playing 115°+. On the other end it seems here in Phoenix it’s rarely sub 35° without getting a frost delay so we typically don’t play until it’s 40°+. dsmil
If the temperature with wind chill is 30+, that's good enough for me. It's more about being able to get the tee into the ground than the exact temperature that day. I had a round a couple of years ago where the temperature was fine but it had been so cold leading up to it, that I couldn't get the tee in the ground and I thinned my iron shots. Roejye
Assuming calm conditions I will probably play 40° f and above, if it's relatively sunny and calm. Maybe if it's been a long time I'd go out in 35ish and sunny. If you add some wind, I'd probably bump it up to high 40's or lower 50's. However if you start adding in other conditions like rain, or high winds, and overcast then I'd probably sit it out unless that's the only time to play. Like others have said, the feels like temperature is probably going to be the biggest deciding factor. If it gets into the low 40s I would probably just not go unless it was the last round or I hadn't been out in a long time.
