Morning Golf or

Evening Golf?

 

I'm really not liking the Time change myself. I have been playing more morning golf But usually around 830 or 9am. I use to Love playing in the evenings but with it getting dark at 6pm here That just doesn't happen this time of year.

I'll choose the third option. Afternoon golf.. Even though I am an early riser and would prefer to play at the crack of dawn I never liked playing at that time of day with the dew. Wet fairways, wet greens and having to adjust on the greens as they dry out. I always like to get started between 10 and 1 ish after everything has dried out. 

 

I'll play morning golf and deal with it. You won't ever see me start a round after 3.

Well I guess that depends on location. That's not the case for everyone. Here in upstate SC we have mild winters and a lot of mornings especially late morning it can be in the 40s. But 50° Is my cutoff

For me,  nothing beats a twilight 9. Only downside is if its a busy course the greens are less than perfect with the day's rounds and green growth.

Yeah That is the downside of evening golf here this time of year. It's not dark at 5pm but it is at 6pm

Afternoon golf for me. I get up to the club around 1:00 and can get 18-holes in before it starts to get dark. The sun is setting at 4:40 pm in my area. The mornings are too cold at this time of the year.

As early as I can when it warms up near 50*.  On golf trips, whenever our tee time is.

8am-9am... I feel like I'm wasting my days when I play any later in the afternoon.

I am the opposite. I like to get up early and do some things before heading out to the course. I feel like I am getting in a full day that way. When I play earlier in the morning I usually end up on the couch when I get home in the afternoon.

I either want to be first out, or last out. I don't like playing in the middle of the day. Give me the first tee time all day long and I am happy! But I don't mind a late evening niner as the sun is going down as well. Its not my thing playing in the middle of the day when its busiest, I prefer to feel like I'm the only one out there.

I'm never on the couch 😆 

Haven't watched any real TV since 2019... Lockdown nonsense proved to me that this could all go away again... so I like to make use of my days.

Afternoon for sure.  Body has had 6+ hours to limber up.  I feel like the tin man in the morning.

Morning for sure, I try to get out by 9 at the latest. Then I still have all afternoon to do stuff with the kids or around the house.

Anytime from 8:30 to 9:30 in the morning.  Club restaurant opens at 11 for lunch!!  So 9:30 is a quick 9 and then lunch upstairs.

Total opposite. If something is getting done,  it has to be before, not after,  golf.  I'm also a walker,  I guess I'd be more functional after riding maybe.. An ice cold one after a round is usually on the agenda too.  Cant do that at noon or the day is really shot,  lol.

Morning. I usually get the second tee time of the day. In all reality, I don't like waking up early and hate how wet the course is. It doesn't feel like real golf when you're putting with rooster tails off your ball. The only saving grace is I can get out and done before the players who play 6 hour rounds.

Whatever time I can get on the course to be honest. I don’t like the dew in the mornings but I also like a course that isn’t full. Depending where I play a middle of the day tee time is nice because the course could be empty or a late tee time gives that peaceful end of day course is not that busy vibe. Just happy to play when I can.

I prefer afternoon but the exact time depends on the twilight cut off time. 

 

I always go for the twilight rate whether in summer or winter to take advantage of the discounted green fees, sometimes less than half the regular green fees.

 

In fact, I only pay $47 to play Bethpage Black. 

 

Finishing up in the dark is not a problem for me as I have my electric pushcart outfitted with a long throw LED flashlight with an effective range up to 250 yards as well as LED floodlight for shot prep illumination as part of my Night Golf setup.

 

During summer time, playing late in the afternoon is also the best time to play not only to get the cheapest green fee but more importantly, to avoid the oppressive and dangerous heat.

 

The only exception is when playing tournaments in the 3 golf tours that I compete in where the tee time is out of my control.

Early mornings for me.  I live the Palm Springs area and it's too hot in the summer to go out in the afternoon and the rest of the year it's too crowded/slow to play after 10am.

Morning. Absolutely, although I very much enjoy a twilight 9 from time to time.  Usually played solo.

Morning.  Then I have the rest of the day.  If I'm playing afternoon, I never feel like i can start anything around the house.

I like both, but I tip towards evening. Happy memories of twilight golf with the whiff of gorse in my nostrils.

 

Then again, most of them were from my teens, when I had a lot more spare time than I do now and didn't have work interfering with my golf.

I'll go whenever I can, but my preference is afternoon or evening. I'm not particularly a morning person so that gives my body a chance to warm up.
