B29 Blue Brick training Aid

I saw an advertisement for this product of topspeedgolf. Do any of you have experience using it?  One of my many faults is suckering into an over the top swing , and this appears to be a great aid. If anybody has experience using this, I would love some feedback before buying this.  Thanks

It looks like you could do everything this aid does with just alignment sticks stuck in the dirt. Though I could see this really useful in an indoor training scenario. But wow $130....

yeah that’s the big hangup trying to practice in doors. The price is outrageous and I can’t find any reviews on it. I’ll probably hold off until I can find some decent reviews swaying me to get it.

When I first saw it I thought it was pretty cool and could see having it in my practice bag, but the price tag just shut that down for me. I practice on grass only and get to play outside year round. So I just do not have the real need. If I was in an area where I had to practice indoors half the year I would be more swayed to buy it

Honestly, this is a really cool idea, but it is very similar to something that already exists (Tour Aim), and I feel like it would be very easy to make a DIY version, equivalent to the $150 product.

 

If anyone has one and is willing to put in the effort, please provide me with the following:

• Length, Width, Height of 'brick'
• Spacing of each hole (bore) relative to length and width edges
• Angle of bores relative to a flat ground

I would imagine that this request is a long shot, but if it works, I could give them out to my friends on this thread-- with a recommended donation of course 😉

 

Alternatively, if anyone has a good resource on swing plane angles/angle's of attack/etc., that would be helpful too!

The Blue Brick may be a good training aid for us in the PNW.  In my area, most, if not all ranges are mat only 😑.  Also, the price of the Tour Aim is about the same price.  I'll be watching for deals on the B29....

What an absurd price for a piece of plastic! Although I suppose it falls in line with most 'golf aid' pricing.

 

(Edit: Removing snark.. I will try to release a working model somewhere anyone can tinker with the design.)

 

It shouldn't be difficult to mirror the design, but I'm thinking there is a configuration to make this ambidextrous. 

 

Loving your progress @mb123 - I'd like to work on a lefty/ambidextrous version. Were you able to find any solid specs for the alignment stick angles/etc?

Here in Arizona you can’t just stick the alignment stick in the dirt.

 

I just saw an ad for this product this morning and thought about $69 MIGHT entice me..

I am in Tucson and I have zero issue with sticking alignment sticks in the dirt at the driving range. I am sorry that the places you play at have that hard of soil. It must suck to try to hold greens

Mine is nearly finished & I’m just offsetting the wedge impact slot so it’ll work for RH/LH.

I did start with those for lack of better answers, but obviously easy enough to fix.  Also, added two pass throughs to add weight with a 1/2" solid metal bar. i'm printing face down to get better texture.

My 9 year old just got a Bambu Labs A1 for Christmas. Haven't fired it up yet, but getting closer. From what research I did (asking some friends who have them), the Bambu Labs ones are the best blend of easy to use vs price vs reliability. A1 mini or A1 are similar, just different sizes. Then there's a P1, which is enclosed and you can print some nastier stuff. Then there's the X1, which is pretty pricy, but top of the range.

Love it. Weighing down the base is still a question in my design, it looks like the original uses a steel plate.

My goal is 100% 3D printable, so maybe tabs for teeing the base into the ground &/or pockets/space in the base for sand/steel BBs etc. Planning to shell out the top piece & figure a way to attach to the base. I might stray from the 'box' shape if it means less complexity/more stability.

RE: 3D printers, any FDM machine on the market can handle simple stuff like this in PLA/PETG (just pay attention to build plate size). If you want to print in higher strength/temp materials, you'll need an enclosure & possibly a heated chamber - but that isn't needed for this. 

 

I think mb123 has a BambuLabs printer with multi-material system for the labels/letters to be printed in white. Fancy stuff 😉

The alternate way to do it is swap filaments at a specific layer height. My plan is to just hit the raised letters with paint on a q-tip.

Mine is a Bambu x1C with AMS, so I can do multi color. I started 10 years ago on creality, then went to PRUSA and now Bambu. Still have a Prusa mini.  

 

If you want to just print, the best bang for the buck right now is a P1 from Bambu.  It's easy enough to setup and run and cheap enough. the A1Mini is dirt cheap but is a smaller build surface, so depends what you want. My printing farm now is x1c and Prusa Mini.
