Ping Eye2 iron re-shaft question

I’ve re-shafted sets of Eye2 irons in the past.  But my son wants something a little different for his re-shaft.  Namely, he wants ferrules added so they’ll look unique.  I know Golfsmith used to have a ferrule specifically made for use on Eye2 irons.  The bottom was slightly concave so the ferrule would fit flush to the top of the hosel.  I can probably alter some existing ferrules by hand.  But to save some time I was hoping someone could point me to a seller that has something similar.  Or, if you have ever done the job by hand what was your technique?  Thanks

Years ago I many builders would grind the top of the hosel flat, using the side of a grinding wheel. I didn’t like doing it but it can be done. You might also try heating the top of a hosel without a shaft in it then put a ferrule on a shaft and push it in/on to mold it to the curved top.

Check with Golfworks.  I have some of theirs with a concave bottom.  But I’ve had them for a while.

Eye2's swingweight light.  A swingweight scale and selection of tip weights is recommended during the build.  Also, consider building to 38" 5 iron length (1/4" longer than original).  That will help get a reasonable swingweight.

 

Also realize that the shafts are an interference fit at the bottom.  You have to pound the shafts into the hosel or they won't bottom.

just following this thread as I am a Ping fan boy. Would reaming to .370 make ensure full seating in the head? I recognize taking a bit of metal out of an already light head is counter intuitive. And open up shaft options just a little bit.

Not necessary.  When installing the shaft, just bang the shaft butt on a hard floor while holding the head.  That will drive the shaft in, until it seats.  It's not difficult...just something to realize and deal with.
