I have only been able to test it out on the practice green.  Loving the insert.  I only have previous LAB experience with the Mezz Max and it almost feels hollow compared to the new Oz insert.  Overall, the insert still feels soft but solid and seems to be very consistent for pace control.  I had no issues quickly getting the feel for distance with the putter.

I was told that there will not be fitting heads for these.  And that they use the mezz or one of the df heads to fit for an oz order.  Is that right?

Have you putted with the DF 2.1?  If so, how would you compare the stability?  I had a 2.1 and I really felt like that putter swung itself, much more so than the DF3.  Unfortunately I had a 2.1 that wasn’t the right lie angle for me.

 

I like what the OP said about how the the oz.1 is close to the 2.1 and I’m wondering if others feel the same.

Thanks.  Unfortunately, I've never owned or putted with the 2.1 or DF3.  I did have a mezz max and this feels similarly to slightly more stable.

Just took delivery of my OZ.1i. I've been a Mezz Max CB user for a little over a year now and this might be the one that takes me away from it. Love the pop off the face.

 

It's pretty close in size to the Mezz Max I would say but it looks smaller because the face being swept back more like DF3. Weighting of the head feels very similar to Mezz Max, very different from DF3.

I've been rolling all three since I received them yesterday. Only used Mezz Max CB since October 2023.

OZ sets up almost identically. The weight of the head feels almost identical to Mezz as well. One of the things I don't like about DF3 is that I can feel the additional weight behind where the shaft enters the head. With TPT in both, OZ feels very similar to Mezz at contact as well. If I said OZ felt more solid or anything because of the insert, I would just be making things up. Maybe other people will notice a difference but if you blindfolded me and told me to impact a ball, I don't think I could tell the difference. I play regular Pro V1 so maybe it's just because of the softer ball.

I only have about 8 feet in my office. Even though OZ feels very similar at impact to Mezz, the ball jumps off the face noticeable faster as expected with the insert even on this length of putt.

One thing I do absolutely love about OZ (and hope comes to a future iteration of Mezz) is that it is one piece and I'm able to use the same T alignment that comes stock on DF3 and DF2.1. This is by far my favorite alignment set up and I would kill to have it on a Mezz.

Overall I like OZ, but because I'm so comfortable with how the ball comes off the face of Mezz I will likely sell this OZ with the insert and order again once the standard version releases. I would then prefer it over Mezz until (hopefully) a refresh of Mezz comes around.

If there was a Mezz update with rounded edges, rounder corners on the fangs, one piece so I could do the T Shape alignment, and a way to scoop the ball between the fangs I would buy it on release day and never shop for another putter again in my life.

From LABs FAQ.  Reference Mezz, but I presume it’s the same for Oz.

 

For a standard putter, the target for heavier or lighter is +/-15 grams from standard. For an Arm Lock putter, the target for heavier or lighter is +/- 20 grams from standard. For a Sweeper putter, the target for heavier or lighter is +/-25 grams from standard.

Based on my experience with both, Mezz Max feels more "forgiving" as there is more mass on the outer edges of the head.

I don't mean to make you see something you will never unsee, haha, but the Mezz looks like it has a bit more forward lean than the OZ in that pic. Someone told me a CB Mezz has 0.75 degrees of forward lean. Maybe they were messing with me but to my eye, in the store, it looked like at least 0.5 degrees of forward lean.

Thanks for the info. I compared it to my Toulon Alcatraz and was shocked that the Mezz Max is a good bit bigger. The Alcatraz is Toulon's biggest putter so that means the Mezz Max name is fitting, haha.

Because the head weights are not static, they vary based on whatever they need to do to balance the club and hit a particular swing weight.

Great point. And you really can't blueprint a LAB putter based on the head weight of other putters anyway. The feel is completely different. I always recommend the heavy head to mitigate the zero torque.
